  1. Nice one koop how much are you after for it?
  2. Thanks Koop. Yeah i saw the pepperpots they looked good . Like the replacement though. Yeah i was pretty annoyed with her. Having used most of my savings on the house i wasnt that pleased to then have to buy a car Thanks Marv Yeah still got the scooter for commuting when i dont have the car it does a job i guess. Bloody cold in winter mind. As promised i shall now try and document almost 9 months of car onwership into one post. Got the car and it looked like this: Loads of bits were missing including: Glovebox on drivers side Seat mountings which made the drive home interesting Various trims Rear wiper motor Ariel It also had a damaged headlight So i raided my local breakers and got the glovebox and all the seat mounting bits along with a new rad cap and expansion tank for £20 Also raided my shed and found the following bits: Wiper Blade and arm for the rear once id found a motor Battery insulating surround Headlight of my old white 6n which repalced the damaged one Also a load of lupo trim i forgot i had So after fixing all the boring broken things i let the missus use it and she actually liked it So i decided to carry on improving things. The first thing was the wheels which looked like this: Horrible halfords specials. Fortunately a mate had got a lupo so i swapped my trim bits for his old wheels: A bit curbed but much much better I then decided to make a couple of small adjustments to make life better: 6N2 gear knob and gaiter 99p off ebay and a cup holder centre console £10 from a breakers Then a good clean and a polish inside and out and it looks a lot better: Much better
  3. Well after almost a year ive returned.Assuming anyone remembers me anyway. Lots has happened over the last year some good and some bad. The good news was after several delays and various crappy estate agents i got the house which looks a bit like this: The bad news is that i had no lupo despite many attempts to hold onto it. The missus had decided that we should use her fiesta as it was "much better and more reliable". So we did, for all of 6 months untill it failed the MOT on the following: £600 of welding £100 of parts £150 of labour The guys at the MOT place said they hadnt ever seen someone celebrate a cars demise as much as i did. I always hated the Fiesta so it was prompty scrapped and its replacement collected from gumtree for £400. I'll put the story so far up when i have some free time but here she is in crap iphone quality: Its a 1999 16v Polo 6N. With very little rust which is a miracle for these cars. It also passed its MOT needing only a bit of exhaust a droplink and a little weld. A lot cheaper and the missus likes it too.
  4. Things you can try: It sounds silly but check the oil level first. Oil flush and change using a GENUINE VW oil filter. Cheaper ones dont always have non-return vales in which can lead to tappet noise. I used Wynns as a flush and had good results. Replacing oil with slightly thicker oil if the car can take one i.e. if your using 5w40 and the car can take 10w40 go with that as its slightly thicker and may shut the engine up a bit. Using the best oil you can afford. Taking the sump off and cleaning it and the oil pickup pipe.Make sure you reseal the sump properly when you replace it. Ultimately though your best bet is to replace the tappets. However, when i did the above on my current polo it improved the tapping noise it had a fair bit. Its now at a bearable level. Hope thats of some use
  5. If you just want a double din unit and you don't care about loosing your cup-holders then you can just remove the unit that holds them. If you want the hazard button moved up then its easy enough to do but i cant see why you would need to. If you want to convert the whole thing to the later style and have cupholders where your hazard and rear window buttons are now thats also possible.
  6. Can you post a picture of your unit? If its only a single slot then you can only have 1 disc at a time.
  7. OK car needs to go now as the missus isnt getting on with it as planned: All modified parts for sale here are the main prices Seats £350 Starlites £250 MFD £300 iPod kit £80 Parrot Handsfree £50 Grill £60 I cant think of too many but if you do im taking offers as i need the car standard asap
  8. The unit itself will work without gala but the sat nav wont keep up with you. Certain lower spec and early model lupos didnt have canbus so the gala wire isnt present in the loom. With yours being a 2001 model i should imagine you will have gala.Honesrly though your going to have to remove your head unit anyway to install the mfd so you may aswell check.
  9. I'd say you probably will have gala but you'd really be better off checking to be sure. Ive racked my brains but I dont think there's any other way of checking other than the two things I've listed in the FAQ. Feel free to pm me if you get stuck
  10. 60mm front 60mm rear 13's
  11. Ive added front foglights to my lupo Its actually pretty easy you need the following: 2 x Front Foglight and screws 1 x Lower valance with fog holes 1 x Length of Red Wire 16 guage 1 x Length of Black wire 16 guage 2 x female connectors for the fog lights from vw with suatable guage repair wires Headlight switch with front fogs Soldering Iron Solder Heatwrap Inline Fuse Holder and Fuse (20A) 2 ring terminals Step 1: Remove you lower valance and replace it with the sport valance with your fogs fitted This guide will help with that: http://forums.clublu...showtopic=24576 Step 2: Remove headlight switch and replace with the front fog switch Step 3: Run the red wire through the bulkhead using an existing grommet. There's a few places that cables come through, the easiest is behind the ABS pump, presuming you have ABS, if not it's behind the brake pipe manifold. Once you've pushed a wire through here you should be able to find it in the passenger footwell up behind the dash, it'll be under some soundproofing which can easily be moved out of the way. Step 4: Run the red wire you just pulled through to the drivers side of the dash and up to behind the headlight switch. There will then be a thick white and yellow colour wire in the loom that goes to the connector for the headlight switch. It provides 12v when the fog switch is on and 0v when it is off. Tap into this wire by removing some insulation and soldering it in. Dont forget to heatshrink. Step 5: Go to the end of the wire you ran through the bulkhead and put in your inline fuse making sure its accesable somewhere in case it blows. The run the wire to the first foglight. Step 6: Insert the repair wires into your fog swith connectors. Start with your first foglight and tap your postive repair wire into the red wire. The continue the red wire and connect it to the positive repair wire on the second foglight. At this point its a good idea to secure the wire along the front panel so it doesnt hang down. Step 7: Connect one end of your black wire to a ring terminal and find a good grounding point on the chassis. Connect the other end to your negative repair wire on the first fog light. Now get another piece of wire and do the same for the second fog light. Step 8: Turn on your ignition and headlights so they come on. Pull your new switch out to the first position and check that your new foglights come on. Step 9: Relax cos youve done it. Hope that helps mate
  12. All depends what money you've put into it as it is. If you've drastically altered the car and you've got the skills that you need to do it then it's a good idea as you can make some money back by breaking the donor car. If you haven't drastically modified it you may be better off putting your mods onto a faster lupo like a sport or a gti. As for engines you'd be best off getting a polo gti engine as its a common conversion and the engine mounts are the same.
  13. You need to take the bumper off as they are clipped in from the other side. The bumpers easy to take off though
