Running a gti lump with a sport gearbox

Not even a Polo GTI.

It'd mate up to the box but the engine wouldn't run.

You'd need to fit the wiring loom, if you haven't got the Polo GTI loom, a Lupo GTI one will work but you'll have to wire the whole car up.

Unfortunately,

Easiest way to do it will be to buy a Lupo GTI loom off Thissy, the whole thing.

Only things you'll need to adjust are the positioning of the crank sensor wire (easy) & the speedo sensor has a different plug.

Looking at the two engines they're near on identical.

I reckon we could get away with using the sport flywheel, Clutch and box on the gti engine.

Surely this could work?

I'm also now on the look out for a loom. Watch this space...

You can use the sport box and flywheel etc. . .

But the ratios will be out and it won't last long.

When the VVT kicks in and the torque is there, you'll be reaching the limits of the box.

Good luck finding a decent box a recon one will cost you 500 and that's on an exchange basis
