Neill1056
Bit of a bizarre one this. The missus parked up our lupo (Y reg 1 litre, no engine mods) turned the key and took the key out of the ignition and the engine kept running!!!! Engine eventually turned itself off after a few minutes. Now 2,3 or 4 warning lights are on when key is out of the ignition and car won't start - nothing at all from the starter motor.Had breakdown guy out and he reckons it's the ignition switch or relay. Does this sound right - don't want to put her into a garage for an easy fix diy job.Any help would be appreciated.

Neill1056
Just realised I never replied to this but got the car sorted in the end. It turned out it was a faulty brake light switch which was causing a short. We replaced the ignition switch twice before we figured it out. Don't know if replacing the ignition switch had anything to do with the fix.You have to watch when you replace the brake light switch too as you can break them when fitting if not done correctly. Hopefully this will save someone a lot of head scratching one day.
