Amber_Nunny
Whats the actual law?Theres load of different things on the internet, but which is right? :\
treblet
No one really knows! The law states that your tyre tread must be covered so technically stretch is legal however you can't stretch a tyre beyond the manufacturers specified limits. The law also states that parts must not protrude beyond the extremes of the bodywork. This can be confusing as the furthest protruding piece of bodywork is the mirrors however if your rims stick out that far you'd definitely get pulled over!Basically it comes down to the cop that decides to pull you over, some won't bat an eyelid at your rims but will object to the tyre stretch, others will object to the rims but not notice the stretch on the tyres and some will hate it all. Either way if they don't like it you'll get a vehicle rectification notice.
Deadmetal
As Treb' said, the only solid law is that the top of the tyre must be covered.A bit of stretch (195s on an 8j rim for example) probbaly wont even be noticed by most people. Again with poke, dont go over board and you should be fine. Some coppers hate anything to do with modified cars and will try and lock you up just for having one. Others will be cool with as long as its not obviously dangerous or will fail an MOT.

Amber_Nunny
Okay thanks.I've got 7.5J on BBS, but my et is 19 so they poke a bit. Not sure exactly how much though...I reckon if i get 175 tyres I should be okay?
