AJ Joyce
Could some either link me to a thead or give me an argument/explination to why the 1.4afh head is a worth while swap onto a gti(polo) lump?Cheers AJ
Cooper_GTI
It's a worthwhile swap because it uses a conventional direct to cam hydraulic lifter, as opposed to the roller rockers, which dont like to be revved past about 7500rpm. The afh also allows a wider range of cams to be used, due to not using the vvti system.I've heard rumours that it breathes better, but i'm not sure if theres any truth in that or not...Get on google and type in "afh head avy" and have a good read. AJ Joyce
Nice one guys yeah I'm gona get on the laptop later. Just in work on me phone at the min. Looking at sorcing a polo gti lump and duin this swap with this bikecarbs or bodys and a set of cam . Do you guy think 150-180bhp is realistic? As if I'm nt mistaken the standerd gti is 123 isn't it? Cooper_GTI
A standard AVY bottom end, with a nice set of cams, bike carbs, some head work and a mappable ignition should be well capable of 150bhp. I'd say that with a 4 branch manifold and straight through exhaust you could be knocking on the door of 160bhp.It'd be a right little weapon in a Lupo! Robbo87
i've built an avy/aub engine at the moment with schrick cams and 4-2-1 and i've been told 150 easily but we'll see
Cooper_GTI
I take it the aub head has a proper cam follower arrangement??What didyou have to do to make it work with the avy block??
