Is this true.

VW are set to release details of a limted run Lupo "Racing" GTi possibly called the RGTi (although this is TBC) to pay homage to the success of the Lupo Cup in both Germany and Japan.

The models will be released at the end of the year as the Lupo production comes to a close. The "RGTi's" will feature slight differences including a small power hike to 135bhp and 121lb/ft or torque (up from 125/112) and sit on 16" miltispoke wheels (ala Cup Cars) and sit on lower, stiffer suspension. Seats will also be uprated (possibly "borrowed" from another VAG model) and embroidered with the "R" logo. Other differences include a single centre exit exhaust (again like the Cup cars) and minor interior pieces.

Book performance figures are set to be in the high sevens (although expect low sevens on the road) and top speed is estimated at 135mph

Price is TBC, but expected to be around £15,000. The majority will end up in Germany, its home and most successful market, and also Japan. Approximately 50 will find their way to UK shores
