Haha you cannot go wrong with a GTI though! I will never get rid of mine unless something catastrophic happens to it!! :)

Yeah, they aren't the quickest things, but they're plenty to stay legal, they have bags of charecter, can look superb with a bit of lows, and have just incredible reliability.

As you said, can't go wrong

Actually excited about getting another :D

Cheers, glad you noticed!

I was looking in my wing mirror to see where this funny sound was coming from, and I noticed some TH monos and a Lupo GTI wing, then you pulled up next to me! (BTW my car doesn't normally sound like that, an exhaust weld had just cracked)

Surprised you didn't here him coming first! Has a BMC with no cold feed on it! TBH i never really noticed a noise from your car what with the BMC and bloomin subwoofer going ha What were you doing up this neck of the woods then?

I was picking something up from Foxy. I actually saw 4 GTI's that day, Adam drove past when I was at Foxy's, then I saw a black GTI near home; the lad driving looked very surprised to see another Lupo haha.

Oh and I had a test drive in this when it was for sale, when I was thinking of buying a GTI. It was probably one of the best ones I drove, pulled well with no funny noises, though the brakes were rusty. Looks like its in good hands now :)

Very nice looking car that. I went with Jon to have a look at it when it was for sale, must be a good 7-8 months ago now. Little garage in Stockton. The salesman just gave Jon the key and off we went, had quite a good run around. Its a very nice car :shades:

@ jon_273 - i get you now, yeah the brakes were a little bit dodgy when i got a hold of it. Got them done my self from my local specialist. Need replacing again actually. Yours have many miles on it?

@ cardaft - yeah thats the garage, he was pretty much the same with me, although there wasn't much fuel in it so i only ended up going down the road. Just a few scratches and minute dents on the bonnet that will be sorted soon when it goes in the body shop. :)

@ richie.guy - it's funny as you never see them any where else (well not many) and when you come into crammy there more common than corsas!

  • 2 weeks later...

UPDATE 62,874 miles

Took a trip to VW the other week to get some parts off the never ending list. While I was there picked up two new check straps (6E0 837 249 C) one for either side, drivers door seems like it has dropped a bit. Also purchased a new connector block (1J0 973 119) for the spoiler brake light since the pins from the old light have corroded in the original connector block.

After weeks of having the coils in my bedroom I dropped my car off to get them fitted, they are AP Coils if i havent already mentioned.

Got the car back Saturday just gone and was pleased to see it creeping out the garage with new lows! Here is some snaps I took this morning before heading off to work.

:)

The back is as far down it will go with the adjuster still in and the front is possibly as low as it will go without catching ?

Unfortunately the week I dropped the car off to get coils fitted I ended up fracturing my second metacarpal at football so as of yet I have been unable to drive it :( Possibly another 3 weeks before the cast is off and I can drive again, which is a killer. That has also meant I am currently unable to finish fixing my spoiler brake light and fit the check straps.

Once the paintwork is sorted next month the only thing letting the side down is the wheels so a refurbish should sort that out.

Comments please.

Cheers richie, I suppose it does have to be drivable, good job there are no speed ramps round mine too.

Looks like a really tidy drop. You could probably go a bit lower all round but that looks to be a sensible height for every day driving! Make sure you've copper greased those coilovers because they will corrode and seize quickly, i only put a light smear on mine but i should have given them a good coating. They aren't looking half as good as my silverlines were...

Micp don't know if you've read the whole thread but I got it from Stockton pretty local to you. When I was looking this was the closest one I could find, I think with gtis you have to accept that you may have to travel some distance if you want a good example.

Yeah certainly enjoying it too, spent a fair bit on it actually not that I've modified it much.

:)

Thanks marcus, did you grease up your ap's when you put them on? I never did it on the last lupo but I never adjusted them, thinking I may play around with the height in the future!
