tshirt2k
I was just about to buy that RF amp. Then i thought how big is it and where its going to go. I measured the boot and i looks like it gonna be too big to in the boot under a false floor. I Thought about the back of the seat but dont really want to holes there. Where else could it go? Tigz™
The best place is on the back of the seats as an amp needs to be upright to cool propally.False floors may look good, but unless you have really good ventilation (lots of fans) the amps can over heat pretty quickly. If you fit a sheet of MDF all the way across the boot floor, covering the spare wheel well. Then mount the amp in the middle. Then build you next peice of MDF on top of the amp, then your sub box can sit on top of that.Me personal though, I would mount the amp on the back of the seats somehow, as thats the best way to keep your amp cool. tshirt2k
Yeah i thought that but the amp is 18" long and 11" wide. Just measured the seats. the left seat is about 17.5" square. Cant put a piece of mdf all the way across the floor cos the battery sticks out in the middle. Aagh
Tigz™
Just build it a little higher up, so its built above the battory?

Tigz™
Oh ya, and they are duel 2ohm so you'd need a 1ohm stable amp, which the rockford isnt..
tshirt2k
Yeah but you can wire the voice coils in series .Looks like alot of people are a good advert for these crystals lol!

tshirt2k
i think it was 0.6 see you ft. but on the blade ice website it says 1.25 see you ft . i didnt want it that big..
Tigz™
I think that is maximum mate.I have the smallest size box possable for my Sub and it is so tight, but really really deep.Dan also has his COMPx2 in quite a small ported box and that really moves also.bladeice.co.uk quote Crystals quoted power ratings and box sizes.Am knows from experiance what is best for the subs, he has been spot on with the sizes and power for mine.Cant wait to hear it! Max
Ive said it before and i'll say it again. Crystal aint a patch on DD.And as im outnumbered, im off to hide.
Tigz™
It depends what your after.Crystal will give you a really powerful SQ sound.DD feels more powerful than any other sub I have ever come accross.your 2 x 10" subs were more powerful than most 2 x 15s you come acrross. No doubt DD is the ****, but it would be too extreme for me all the time.In a cetan Golf I may be able to come with a coupleof 10s 8)
M1 Lupo
Max, don't feel out numbered. Yes like Andi I love Crystal gear, but I know its roots are in SQ and not in SPL.
Tigz™
I like to think of Crystal gear as SQLAnd DD as STL (crap thats Loud!) lol
M1 Lupo
Id tend to agree there. Now the cars electrical system can cope, I want to see how far the amp can do push the crystal!
Tigz™
Mines rated at 600wrms, and I give mine 800wrms and it'd like more while its sealed.800wrms is the max I can go once ported.Id say your can handle 1000wrms if set up perfectly.Cant wait till you componants come. Gonna hear what they'll sound like in a Loop!
