i think the bellhousing is different on the 6speed, and Lupo's use a hydralic clutch, though that may not be a problem

where's Tigz when you need him!?

Oh and welcome to ClubLupo!

Its completely different, although it could be done if you really wanted a 6 Speed.

The engine bell housing is different, so you would need a Lupo GTI Sump.

The exhaust is also different on the GTI so you would need to adjust your exhaust to clear the sump.

The gear linkage is different.

The clutch on the Lupo GTI is hydrolic, so you'd need to change the pedal box, Slave and master cylinder.

The Gearbox speedo sensor is different, so you'd either need to replace this, or replace the plug on your loom.

The Lupo GTI box also fails, its not a Polo GTI thing, its accross the VW range for as far back as the mk1 Golf GTI!

So long as the Polo GTI box is rebuilt using the upgraded VW repair kit it should be good for another 40k miles.

I'd imagine it'd be someone elses problem by then.

311 405 625 F x1 (timkin XC10240CJ-XC10240DH) Mainshaft

411 501 283 G x2 (no timkin numbers taken, sorry!) Diff Bearings

085 311 431 C x1 (Crappy plastic bearing) 5th Gear Idler Bearing

085 311 113 x1 Seal

084 409 189 C x1 Diff Seal

084 409 189 B x1 Diff Seal

085 301 215 A x1 End Plate Gasket

085 311 582 x1 Crappy Clip Thats Bound to Break, holds in selectors.

If you want to 'Upgrade' the only thing which can be 'upgraded' is the plastic 5th gear bearing with a metal item but TBH so long as the gear oil is changed regually (I change mine everytime I change the engine oil) it should be fine.

This is great info to have. I've just had my GTi box start to fail in 2024 - wish me luck on sourcing these!
