dxg
There's a suite of videos of what seems to be staff famialirisation with the Golf 6 production line floating around on youtube. Here's one: Youtube Video -> Watch how the front bumper and grille are installed. Lots of snap fixings straight out of Boothroyd and Dewhurst's "Design for Assemlby" principles. Shame that when I first looked at that over ten years ago doing the old PhD it was old hat even then!! Nice to see VW at the cutting edge of vehicle assembly!!!Plus, design for assembly is the antithesis of disassembly. Generally, these fittings are destroyed in the process of dissembly. Screws = good. Snap fixings = bad. Form the point of view of modification and repair, at least.
jamiea7x
theyre designed to snap so you will buy new ones. its like everything else things are designed with a shelf life, or else no one would buy new stuffits called Planned Obsolescence

Gibbeth!
Aw, god! I've just finished a Boothroyd project, had to redesign a 2to3 pin plug converter and a cordless drill, most laborious thing Ive ever done!
MattyA
loooks badly built with noo love.. i think i'm off VW for good... only the Phaeton looks well put together....It's all relative, surely? I can't imagine the Golfs main competitors being any better put together, after all they are still a car for the mass market.
