I Pull the lever, the bonnet just doesn't pop!Any ideas how to get it open. The cable isn't snapped because when i pull the lever it springs back. Sunderland
Theres a small latch in the middle under the bonnet which you have to pull to the right (i think) and then it will open.
Mitchell
from what he's typed i think its not opening at all , get someone to push down on the bonnet as you pull the lever.
Jowey
is the cable still attached to the lever ? could possibly get at it through the grille and manually operate the 'pop' catchnot alot of room on arosa grilles though
Stu_1.0
Yeah it's not opening at all.DOes the front grill pull out, or does the bonnet need to be open to remove it?
Sunderland
Nah youd have to open the bonnet to get it off as it like clips in.
Jowey
mk1 or mk2 arosa ? best bet is to remove the release handle, if the cable is disconnected at the handle=end then it'll be obvious give it a tug and it should pop the release mechif this fails try and spot the release mech through the grille use a set of pliers and pull it towards youthe mech is a round thing
Stu_1.0
It's a Mk1.
Mitchell
lie underneath the car, head and shoulder under bumper drivers side see if you can reach up and feel for the bonnet cable around the top of drivers side light area or use a torch you may be able to pull the cable from there. Stu_1.0
Please could somebody possibly take a picture showing exactly where the catch is?
Steve m
I had the same problem with mine, I pulled the handle inside the car and it didnt do anything. What I eventually had to do was pull the grill out undo the bolts that hold the bonnet catch and pull the bonnet up that way. The reason why it wouldnt open was the bit that joins the cables together (its on the lefthand side of the engine, a black tubular clip) had poped open so the cable wouldnt pull properly. I broke some clips on the grill taking it off but I thought it would be better than chopping the bonnet up. Hope this helps and good look with it. Percy2&Daffyd
This happened to my MK2 Arosa whilst under warranty. They had to order a new badge as to open the bonnet they had to break the existing one.I took a close up picture of the badge and catch behind it for future reference. i'll post it if you want

Steve m
Glad you sorted it, It might be worth putting some tie wraps round the clip so it doesnt happen again.
