the arosa is starting to cut out on me again...

about 6weeks ago it was having problems starting so we replaced the relay which done the trick.

Today it has cut out 6-7 times (3 being on the motorway) :(

As im driving the revs shoot down to 0, the oil light, battery light and coil pack light come on, the dash beeps really loud about 4-5 times and the car rolls to a halt (power steering off but the lights stay on)

glow plugs have been replaced as part of a service tonight.

Just wondering if anyone else might know a solution, i know there were a few posts but they must have been deleted, i see us arosa owners are down to 1 page.

Cheeers! B)

cheers for your reply richard, however fuel filter was also changed before the replay as we thought it was that at first, sorry should have put that bit in too...

We're puzzled so think its being hooked up to a diagnositic in the next day or two :(

Fuel injectors? I would suggest taking it into a specialist who can plug it into a compooter and diagnose the fault. Its probably something simple which has worn out and just needs replacing.

keep us posted, id be interested to know what it was

Mine did a similar thing, although it only cut out on me once, it also made a loud beep.

When it cuts out, does it restart straight after?

Mine took about 20 minutes to restart, which was quite bad on a busy road!

Although one thing i noticed was the glowplug light was not coming on. Does yours come on when it wont start?

I replaced a replay, i forget what it was called now (think it was the ECU relay), its located behind the fuse box though, and its never happened since.

Sorted, i took out the fuse box etc to get to the relays, its nearly as much a screw on as changing a front bulb .

You have to have wafer thin hands to get to basically everything on these.

Anyway it turned out to be one of the relays but the actual back part where the wires connect , it mst have worked loose and wasnt making a connection with the relay pins , now being over six foot its dam hard to do hand stands in the drivers floor to see this , the AA man did instead as i had to shoot off to teach a thai lesson so couldnt stay to fix it .

All sorted now though

yeah it made a really loud beeping and just rolled to a stop- everything went on. The engine was shaking like it didn't have fuel to it.

i <3 the aa man- just for his gadget van!

  • 4 weeks later...

have you checked that you have a good earth between all the components,a dodgy earth to the engine would make it cut out.

plus with the glow plugs they are only there for when you stasrt the car to get the cylinder temperature up to create the heat for compression ignition, after that the light should go out,i would have thought all the lights coming on would be the same as when you first put your key in the ignition?
