bossjohnc
That's EDL - it won't let the front wheels spin at different speeds below 50mph.If you floor it however, your wheels will be spinning at the same rate.
mickyp
i can't explain the sound it makes when it comes on but u will probably of heard it.its when your grip on the wheel just slips that little bit u can hear it.
bossjohnc
Yup, that'll be it... sounds a bit like the ABS kicking in?
Crusoe
it brakes the spinning wheel EDL standing for electronic differential lock. Will still let both wheels spin as long as they are both at the same speed. Works well in the snow.
Ardent
left foot braking = loss of power in mine, quite `un-nerving`jayson my 2p
Snoopy
Yup, very spooky.Note that if you're just parked in neutral, applying the brake won't stop you from revving the engine. But if you apply the brake for more than half a second while the accelerator is pressed, you'll suddenly find that you've lost (approx) 80% power. I was able to maintain 40mph when I tried it on the way back, but not accelerate any faster.Note that if you do this a lot, you will raise a fault code.
Snoopy
QUOTE(Poobah)Also noticed that the ESP system is less pronounced on 5 speed cars.Wonder if this could be simply due to the gearing - it'll be a bit harder to spin the wheels in first/second, as they're higher ratios on the 5 speed.
