Valve Guides / Burning Oil / Cylinder Head

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

This is my first time here.

Taken my Lupo to VW dealer.

Came back has burning oil, suspected badly worn valve guides.

Have anyone add a problem like this?

Removing cylinder head soon for engineering.

Now my question is, when cylinder head is removed what should i look for in the cylinder in case the rings or shafts damage?

When car is running it gives of a bad smell.

Lupo 1.4S AHW 16V 1999.

MAYBE, does any one have one of this laying around in the corner of the garage ready to replace(engine or cylinder Head)?????

OK Thank you and hope to hear from you guys soon

P.S. I have replaced the stem seals.

I have a 75bhp 1.4 16v engine (No throttlebody or gearbox) from a 2001 6N2 Polo (Same engine) with 17'000 miles you can buy if you can collect from South Scotland (Galashields).

I fitted it to my Lupo, but replaced it with a Polo GTI lump.

£150 collected and its yours :)

Would be cheaper than repairing yours I would imagen.

That's close but would all my parts in my engine fit including gearbox?

You got a perfect engine there but a AHW would of been the NUTS.

Sorry its me again,

Just spoke to VW and they told me that the 6N2 is not the engine code its the chassis code, please look for the engine code for me they say its on the head.

If its a AHW i will be there in a Flash.

Thanks

Tony

The engine code is AHW

If you want to collect it you can pick it up for £150.

Or I'll get my workshop to fit it for you drive in drive out for an extra £350?

I'd rather you just collected it though, longer hes working on other cars less time hes working on mine!

I'm leaving work now, so give me a call if you need me.

Remember Im from Yorkshire though, so speak slow

Hi Tigz,

John was very helpfull, really decent guy.

Saw your car and the extra gear you got for it.

Very sporty nice and clean.

And let me thank you again.

Started on it today, Tomorrow i'm removing the front, then the engine and have the one i got from you in.

Just one final question would u have a certificate or receipt from when u brought the engine, just to keep it in my records.

If you dont have it, it's not a big deal. I just thought of asking, just in case.

Thankfully

Tony

Hi Mate

I bought it off Ebay, I dont think I got any paper work when I bought it, but I'll have a look around at home.

It will be in my ebay history (Lupo_Tigz) but I do not know how long items are viewable for?

Should be able to find which breakers yard sold it to me though.

Its a good little engine for the money, I gave away the inlet manifold and trhrottle body as I had no use for them and I had to steal the gearbox and cam cover as the Polo GTI engine didnt come with them.

Before the cover and gearbox was removed, it was a solid cean engie which had not been removed from the 'box before.

Last time I saw my car it was in a sorry state, I cant see its changed much since then

Good luck on the engine fitting!
