Crusoe
Crusoe, do you know of any online sites that sell decent watch straps? Looking for something unusual! Good quality ones!!! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />oh yes, depends how much you want to spend and how exotic you want to go. Know a man who must go out picking off zoo animals at night as he can get you a strap made out of almost anything in any colour.I've a few custom ones made to fit from material and stitching of your choice, dollar rates are good so aligator, elephant, shark etc. are about £50 custom made. If you want to go to some of the larger specialists rather than an individual there are quite a few manufacturers lots of links here http://www.paneristi.com/straps/index.htmlif you want custom i can give you the details of some contacts to e-mail. gargoil
Who do you recommend "off the shelf", moneys not an issue for it as long as its not well into 3 figures!!
Crusoe
I've a nice ostrich strap on today from here http://www.taikonaut-time.com/indexa.asp mid range price wise but really good quality and nicely finished. I get mine without buckles and tubes as i have screw in ones i can swap over but you usually get the option. P.S.If the product shows as out of stock it's usually a slightly below the counter deal so you can e-mail them and ask style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
gargoil
Below the counter? I'm not gonna have to suck on anything to clinch the deal am I? Police Academy style? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />iIm not going to have anti cruelty to animal nutters chasing me about if I buy one of them am I? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
Crusoe
depends what you get it made out of lol. Sure it's legal but probably doesn't want the hassle of such people himself so he marks them out of stock. The standard materials are fine for most things, some of the more exotic ones ar ereally cool though and are more hard wearing than standard leathers.for you they could even do a lamb skin chav burburry version lol.http://www.taikonaut-time.com/product-desc....asp?ProdId=394 style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
gargoil
http://www.taikonaut-time.com/product-desc....asp?ProdId=414How'd you reckon this one would be in terms of durability/quality and will it stay clean. Want a light coloured one but worried that it will show dirt easy!!
Crusoe
should be fine, i've no problems keeping mine clean and have a much lighter stone ostrich one. That one is for 24mm fitment though, unless you've got a really large watch an inch wide strap is probably too big.if a 24/22 is what you need [i prefer 24/24 the same width all allong it] you might also want a screw in buckle, their brushed pre-v is quite nice 22mm versoin to fit that strap is here http://www.taikonaut-time.com/product-desc....asp?ProdId=
gargoil
How long do they take to deliver?
Crusoe
1-2 weeks for standard shipping by the time it gets through customs etc. they can usually put it down as a gift or samples so you don't pay duty. If you want it faster you can pay a bit more for faster air freight but their standard delivery is fine.

Crusoe
@Putney fish skin is quite cool border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> dolphin could be quite good, rhino might be a bit thick (elephant comes from the ears which are a thinner skin than the rest of the body.) Whale might be a bit too oily to make a good strap. All animals die, good recycling to make use of the skin style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Edited August 31, 2006 by Crusoe
