Sorry to hear about ur accident, as soon as you said "i was at a round - a - bout i knew what soer of accident you have had, i have had anear miss or two like this...

why dont you just replace the bits with standard kit rather than trying to re-custom it again, you may find it works out cheaper

  • 4 weeks later...

got a call the day [eventually] from arnold clark who were [suppose] to be repairing the loop,

i had to pick it up within 24hrs or id get charged rental on the courtusy car,

arnold clark said id need to come n get it cz the tax had just run out, so sorted the tax n went to pick it up all the way through rush our traffic,

eventually got there payed my £200 exess n returned the courtusy car, went round to see my baby to find ehhhh a slightly diffrent 1 from the 1 i had spent a fortune on

first impressions mmmmmmmmm diffrent front end mmmm its deff new bt not the same 1 i had on it before the smash

right no.1

thay had put on the newer zender front end slightly bigger n deeper than the older 1.

no.2

the front recess on the number plate hadnt been smothed

no.3

thay had put the standard slated grill bk on i had a mesh grill smothed to the indicator pannel thay claimed thay couldnt get the mesh grill anywhere mmmmmmmmmmm didnt look hard enough it standard vw part

no.4

thay had salvaged an indicator from my old front end n replaced the other side wth a new 1 can clearly tell the diffrence and the old 1 the cable in2 the indicator had snapped mmmmmmmm how u think thay sorted that mmmmmmm insulating tape n another 3feet of cable does the trick

no.5

ohhh did i forget to mention the car wasnt running wouldnt tick over when started just cept cutting out

no.6

after all this thay almost convinced me to drive it away n claim the rest of the work off my insurance went in signed the curtousy car bk to them picked up my visa card then my mate came running in the workshop door

ahhhhhh another problem when fitting the bonnet thay broke the windscreen as id didnt break when i smashed it,

the mannager comes out cz i wz bitching about the state of my baby. ahhh its ok its drivable the windscreen wont cave in just take it away, yehhhhhhhhhh my ass gave him my keys bk lifted the courtusy car keys n told him to stick my own car up hz ass n took hz,

thay couldnt deliver my car to me the way i had it and coz it had no tax well im not driving mine away cz its not road worthy,

bams,

will be getting on to the insurance on monday bt the state of the work n there getting told ill take it bk when thay sort it the way i had it,

i payed throught the nose year in year out to insure all my mods wht for for them to give me bk a half standard car bk that doesnt run helllllll no chance

ohhh n if any 1 wants to know the damage price so far with them only half fixing it its at £2056 plus the insurance need to pay the rental of the car i had for 2 months n thell need to put another £1000 at least to put it bk the way i had it.

jeers for listening to me moaning any advive would be good to hear cheers

I was reading through this and thinking:

*Don't take it*

*Don't take it*

*Don't take it*

*Don't take it*

*Don't take it*

*Don't take it*

Thank God you didnt, as if you did, you've accepted it. Which means they dont have to do ****** all else.

Keep having a go until it's sorted.

Two points here.

First is, you are not insuring your mods.

You are insured, to have the mods.

But they do not have to replace like for like.

You have your after market bumper (how would they know which was which? Zender to VW is Zender) there is no way they will smooth the bumper and give you no where to put a number plate!

Second point is the quality of the work, and the damage that has been caused.

You do have the right to be upset.

Take photos of everything you are un happy with, write a letter and include these pics to the Service manager of the dealership, to your insurance company and keep a copy for your self.

Dont rant like in this post.

Just make everything clear, dont bother wasting your time about the mods.

Just concentrate on getting your car repaired correctly.

Depends on the policy, I know most companies insure you to have them not refit them in the event of an accident, but some will do like for like (e.g my policy)

Hope theres no suppirses.

My policy had to have each and every item listed.

But they wouldn't replace everything.

Out of intrest who are you with?

Adrian Flux wont replace like for like.

And I have never heard of any that would.

So does mine, well worth having. Dont want them replacing 1 strut to standard and leaving the other 3 coilovers do you!

Regarding the case of the post, you did the right thing refusing the car as once you sign for it you are admitting you are happy with it. With the exception of the wrong bumper and the number plate recess smoothing you should have a case to get everything else sorted. Take pictures of the work that is rubbish to highlight how poor the garage is. Not only should they sort your car out properly they may lose the right to do work for the insurance company.
