paulbin Posted August 17, 2005 Report Share Posted August 17, 2005 just been out for drive and noticed wen i was driving through some side streets, going over humps in second then put my foot down the tappets are really noisey be wen i get over 2500rpm everything sounds sweet, can hear it more in 2nd gear but sounds the same in 1st, 3rd etc. It does sound the same wen the engines warm aswellAm i right in thinking that the tappets are normally noisey wen you first start.am i just being fussy? john Posted August 24, 2005 Report Share Posted August 24, 2005 hey paul, does ur tappets make noise wen you start the car up from cold? think 1 of my tappets are knackered coz it chaps like hell till the oil gets all the way round the engine. usually lasts about 5 secs then sounds fine. Think it is the injectors ticking as heard the same kind of noise on many cars.A quiet ticking from injectors is normal (more audiable on some cars as depends on injector type / brand) and nothing to worry about.
