You use a screwdriver covered in tape (to avoid scratches), and lever the plastic lamp holder thing from the rear small end. It's spring loaded. One end is spring loaded, the other isn't. If it hasn't been replaced before, the spring loaded end is towards the rear. But it can fit either way round. If you need to force it, try the other end. It needs very little effort. 

They often split and water gets in. But they are cheap to replace.

Ah, do you mean the indicator sidelight or the parking light? If it's the parking light, that's a plug and twist I think (can't remember 100%). The entire thing comes out. Haven't changed one of those for years.
