Danyutz
Hey guys,My dog got around my key and chewed it. I want to change it with an OEM flip key from local dealer, only I don't know what to ask them? Is there a part number i could get? I have central locking, with 2 buttons on my original keys.Thank you!
Skezza
I'm sure Mike did this. He purchased a second hand key then transplanted the gubbins inside. I reckon it wouldn't be too hard really. Personally, I've just never been fond of flipkeys, so I have a separate remote.
carrera-gt
There are many videos on you tube of transfering the transponder from one key to another, be careful they are sometimes glass and are fraigile if you damage it it's game over you will need to go to the dealers for a new key. Danyutz
Ok, but I need to buy a blank or a case flip key that's supposed to work with my car, no? I want to buy it from VW.
Mattz341
Buy a mk4 golf flip key from eBay, make sure it's the same frequency as your Lupo key, iirc its 434hz? (Check this.), this can be old and tatty, all you want is the innards. Then buy a replacement cover for the key, that way you end up with a nice shiny new looking key, usually the new skins come with an HAA blank, if not then buy one of these. Then find a friendly key cutter who will cut the HAA blank. Once this is done you will need to program the flip key, this is easily enough done by following the precedure (it's on here somewhere) then swap the immo chip across and it'll be done. Cost me about £40 all in
Mattz341
Note that the 3 button keys work but the boot unlock doesn't, I've read somewhere that a guy did get his to work but I've not been successful (52 plate GTI)
