  1. by the by how much do vw charge for a set of cambridge lights?
  2. got mine from vw tps, give em the chassis number and they give you the type on their system, think its quantum? either way i was shocked at how cheep it was, like £8 for 5ltr!!
  3. ok took it to my local garage (cant afford VW lol) all 4 of the mechanics said it was a CV noise, yet they checked my new CV and it was fine, and he is stumped! its been in and out over the past few days and he cant see anything! hes advised me to get a new hub with knucles etc as he said eventhough it doesnt sound anything like the bearings, if he strips it down and there is 'something wrong in that area' it would be easier and save labour costs to slap in a new hub, but of corse sods law VW sell this in sections!! Grrr anyone know where to get one of these for a GTI front left?? dj-jay - mentioned about the piston, but he said that wasnt the problem. i hate process of elimination!! im quids down and have no fun driving my car atm!!
  4. cheers guys, think im gonna take it into a garage and mention the above ideas because im stumped!! its one of those annoying noises that doesnt effect anything on the car, but just bugs the hell out of you!! thanks
  5. its coming from front left, i changed the front pads and disks both sides. hoping its not going to be something expensive like the diff
  6. ive got this on my gti, changed pads and disks and inner CV joint and its still ongoing =[ i have no movement in the wheel so cant see it being the bearings... any help pleeeasssseee?? sorry for hacking your thread
  7. i managed to fit a flat pack double bed and large chest of draws in mine at the same time and could have probably fit it all in twice if i had to!
  8. humm alarms always been ok as to date, cant test the alarm, because its the same fuse i cant wind my passenger window up from the drivers side either (although it goes down fine!) and i have tried 3 different switches in it but all do the same! im windering if the two things are linked, might have a look tomorrow, can anyone give me an idea on the best way to get to the wiring behind the fuse box?? thanks danny
  9. fuse blown in number 41 i think it is for the central locking, so i replaced it ...then it blew so i changed it from 15 to 20amp and it still blew, only thing is it is fine and works a treat every time...until i open my drivers door fully then it blows. any ideas??? guessing its water or something getting in the fuse board, but its just this one fuse, everything else is A OK
  10. after getting a new grille badge on my gti as mine is black and i would like a silver one again, so my question is simple, are there any other models in the VW range that are the same as on the lupo gti? trying not to spend £20 on one if i can help it. in this link it says that there are a few other models that share the same fitment but kinda wanted to double check. cheers http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-GENUINE-VW-GRILLE-BADGE-GOLF-MK4-LUPO-POLO-gti-etc_W0QQitemZ390144450303QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item5ad66bdeff

  14. keep seeing this coming from swillington way and going up mad mile towards cross gates. sure its a GTI, deffinatley lowered and loud! it needs a wash also
  15. yea they were flat when put back together, might just whip it to VW and pay only problem is i need it daily and work 6days a week so cant really leave it with them good job ive been saving for such an occasion
  16. great thanks much appreciated ill check tomorrow. dont suppose you know any other ideas on what it could be if not either of those?...
  17. cheers. surley if it was a stone, when i changed the pads and discs it would have solved that problem :/ also forgive me for sounding thick but... 'and move 12 to 6 and 9 to 3' WTF lol
  18. hi, done a little search but doesnt seam to be that much on this topic.. i have a 'squeeking' noise coming from the front passenger side on my gti, it sounds like it is hitting one point on every rotation, so obviously when im going over 10mph its a constatnt squeek its ben going on for a while now, and i resolved it by turning up the music, but enoughs enough and i need to sort it, its the same in every gear, with the clutch down and if im going left right or straight. i have changed the pads and discs, this didnt make a difference and i couldnt see any obvious signs or rubbing or wear so must be 'internal' somewhere, so to cut a long story short does this sound like it could be my wheel bearings and how much would i be looking at for this to be fixed?? i did read a post that mentioned it could be lower suspension arm bushes??? i have adjustable FK's if this matters. thanks in advance danny
  19. stick your hand up in the left hand side (if your looking head on at the car) the wire is right up at the top, pull it to pop the bonnet. once its open follow that wire back as if its going into the car from the engine bay and you will see the connector, its like a black sleeve that goes over two ends of wire (cant miss it). saying that, that was my problem, thats not to say that is what will be wrong with yours, try all the things that Philplop says to do and one of them will be the cause hope this helps danny
  20. yea, but only because the cars lowered, would have thought standard springs would be raised enough to let me get my arm up and underneath
