  1. Got it sorted... needed to connect the Red to the yellows and shebang, well chuffed....
  2. QUOTE(snoopstah)and how sensitive the `speed-sensitive` volume is.and you've just sured the lifelong issue with my 406... I didn't get a handbook with it, and we always thought the speed setting was volume, not sensitivity.... lmao Cheers style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="clap.gif" />
  3. QUOTE(nfbr)^ this only applies on models with Remote Central locking. If you have to turn the key to get in your car then you'll need to join the reds and yellows together... i.e. 1 join for all 4 wires. In other words connect the red (Acc) wire to the yellow creating a permanent live to the stereo?? Or do I need to connect both together coming from the stereo and then connect these combined wires to the red coming out of the ISO connector (if the red and yellow wires have been swapped about on the loom...)??? And no I don't have any kinda remote / central locking... well, apart from the fingers on mmy left hand, lol
  4. I've trolled the forum and given up in vain.... so apologies if this has been answered in a post already. Some excellent advice on fitting Woofers, balancing speakers, etc... but, mine is a simple problem (or not as the case may be) The standard casssete in my R Reg Arosa has kicked the bucket, and I'm left with no tunez... Managed to get hold of a tasty, but normal, panasonic CD... But, I don't particularly want tot fry it putting it in... now the CD manual says "beware Seat and VW" but give s no specifics... I know I need an aerial adaptro (not an issue) BUT, it's the wiring that I'm not sure of... so, PLEASE a bit of advice to the meek. My Question... Can I just slot the new CD player in, using the ISO connectors in the wiring loom, or will I need to jig about with the loom on the stereo. It has a Red wire with an Acc label on it, and a Yellow wire with Batt. The yellow wire also has a female bullet connector extra (presumably to connect the red acc to permanent live? Help???
  5. You could take your windows out? At least then they won't rattle, unless you store them on top of the washing machine, and they'd only rattle on a spin cycle... or you just don't do any washing... There, sorted... style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  6. I did a similar thing installing into my sister in law's micra... just make sure that you've got the aerial lead plugged in... for some bizarre reason, if not the fuse circuits for lights kept blowing... don't ask me why, I only work here... lol Again, Helfrauds do an adapter for the aerial.... style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  7. As far as I'm aware, the General Rule of thumb is ... if it's an exterior light and it's fitted then it has to work. I got pulled once when I'd fitted some Fogs and spots to a Mini, but hadn't had "time" to finish the wiring off before my MOT... FAIL I'd have been better off just leaving them off...
  8. Personally, I'd go the Hair Dryer route... heats the glue on the tape so that they just peel off nice and simple... quick wipe with a cloth and voila... Does the same with Window Stickers (I despise them!!), no need to get a scraper out and trash your rear window heater element :? Nail Varnish remover = Paint Stripper, so balls it up and you've got a nice "dissappearing paint" effect...
  9. Thought you might like these.... They're from an article in What Car? from April 2000 about crash reliability for the Lup... would imagine that the test results are similar for a y2k Arosa too... apologies for the size, but figured that you'd prefer to have them at the same as was in the mag :? border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> and from that little lot, if you're gonna need to go round and break someones legs for any reason, the Lupo comes into it's own ... 8)
  10. QUOTE(Tigz)QUOTE(bossjohnc)Fairly sure there's nothing under the seat badgeOther than the boot opening I dont think there is style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> AAAAaaaaah, well, I obviously got the factory fit option for a `non-opening` boot (except with the built in `anti-theft` wiggle handle, twist the key mechanism... ) And no, there aint anything under the badge... Plus, it's a Mk1 as far as I can tell and the rubbing strips down the side are the black rubbery types (so not colour coded) so they should come off using the wifes hair dryer and a bit of a polish... and yes, I concur with the "good polish" point... Zymol's the best "budget" one I've found so far and it smells wicked... plenty of carnuba wax is what you need  Thanks so far guys, I have a job list for the weekend.... p.s. Wife, if your're reading this... I'll see you monday... lol
  11. QUOTE(Tigz)remove the side strips buddy.Doesnt cost anything other than a tub of bug and tar remover and a couple of hours graft. Makes a huge diffrence. Good idea... plus, one of them's falling off any way...
  12. I hope you haven't cut any holes yet? You will find that there are measurments that you have to adhere to in terms of where you site your indicators.... I did a quick google but came up blank, but, the quickest (and probably easiest) way to find out is to ring your local MOT Station and ask them... I know I had a mini fail in the past as the indicators were too far inboard, but if your talking about mounting them in the fog lamp spaces, I wouldn't see a reason why not... again, a mini (the old style) has theirs mounted quite low down in comparason to the rest of the car... Doesn't cost anything to check though
  13. And before you say it, no I'm not a tight wad... I have little expenditure on modding my car, what with having family, commitments, blah blah blah... Anyway, I'm looking to do mods that will cost under £50 a throw, but where to start. I have recently acquired a 1.0 MPi Arosa (in white), 99 plate on an R. It's a second car (cos it was cheap as chips...) and more for "fun" than anything else... Mods so far (don't laugh...), aluminium bee sting aerial, cos the old one was knackered and a rear sun blind (genuine fit one) for the kids in the back.... So, what do you reckon? £50 or under and making a difference. Your thoughts...?
  14. QUOTE(dazraz_uk)Yeh thanks Kat that would be great, any ideas if he can do the mirror polishing bit too?£15 sounds a good deal but obviously i'll have to pay the premium for not being you ...........maybe if i wear a blonde wig that might work (or not coz thats just a scary thought) lol Either that, or you might get it for a tenner...
  15. QUOTE(snoopstah)For clarification:ETKA = VW Parts Catalogue ELSA = VW Service Manuals ETKA is significantly easier to obtain than ELSA (and a lot smaller) Are there similar style manuals for Seat Arosa's available to the "public"? Sorry for the daft question, but I'm new to the scene of Lup/Arosa and am looking for said type of manual... workshop ideally...
