  1. Finally got it back today. They replaced the cable, lock and catch! And the front grille. Not tested it yet! S
  2. I get the creaking anyway from cold! This was after driving for 1.5hrs down the motorway. Just seemed to loose revs. Seems OK now, I will monitor it (as usual!) style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> S
  3. Had an odd one today, put the car into reverse and accelerated, but the engine stalled. Then it happend again! In the end I revved it loads and tried again - worked this time. Anyone else have this? S
  4. We will see........ S
  5. I open the bonnet, close it and walk off. Come back in 5 mins to open it, but it won't open. The handle moves but nothing happens. Strip the drivers footwell down and see the cable is mounted correctly and moving, but the bonnet doesn't open. I am guessing the cable has broken inside the engine bay. Any ideas how VW will solve this? Booked it in on Wednesday style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> And then found the layer of matting under the carpet soaked on the passenger side style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> The carpet was fine but the matting was soaked. Couldn't find the cause though style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> S
  6. Had a look and not bothering now! VW couldn't even sell me the ring terminals I need style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> The cable went behine the vent system and couldn't be bothered with the hassle. S
  7. Hi, Does anyone one know where the alternator comes into the engine bay, the route it takes and where it is fused? I think it comes in on the passenger side grommit, runs along the passenger side wing and up into the fuse box by the jump start connection. The runs under and along the front of the engine then up to the alternator. Is this correct? Thanks S
  8. Alexis, send me the crack: simon.wynne1@ntlworld.com Cheers S
  9. I think they are fine. I have never had the ABS activate either, but the light comes on when I start the car style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> S
  10. I had the master cylinder replaced. Still does it! But as many have said, only happens when the outside air temp is low. The pedal seems OK, I think the long time it take to come back up is caused by my foot position rather than a big issue. Seems OK at the moment though. Cannot feel a clicking............ I don't believe my dealer, I tell them what needs doing and they then find out and do it! They say service work needs to be done, but know I will do it myself!! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> S
  11. I'm getting the new Eiback coilovers soon style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Koni shocks and Eiback springs. Out at the end of Feb, around £650 + VAT S
  12. It is very common on the Mk4 Golf. All you need to do is tie wrap the pipe so it isn't hanging loose. S
  13. I hate those dicks. Several people have died from that happening style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> S
  14. Dan I should be getting either H&R or Eibach coilovers soon. Will tell you how they compare to the Highsports style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> S
  15. Booked it in with VW. The door is shut as the alarm doesn't go off when locked. The switch is half illuminated all the time. When you turn on the lights it gets brighter. The switch still works though. It is only for the left side window, the drivers side of the switch is fine............ S
  16. Dan ??? Will have a proper look tomorrow. S
  17. Noticed today that the left side elec window switch illumination is staying on. Even when I have locked the car! Any ideas? S
  18. Does anyone know what type of sensor it is? Can it measure surface temperatures or will it only range for air temps? S

  22. What size are the GTi as standard? If smaller than 256mm, all I would need to convert them is the 16v Mk2 calipers and disks and pads? S
  23. Has anyone used Eiback coilovers? How do you mean by floaty? I sometimes have it when the front feels very light. S
