  1. afaik you can't lacquer polished wheels as it the lacquer does not agree with the 'bare' metal, and lifts very easily. this means autosol and split hands every weekend. no pain - no gain.
  2. £23 to fill???? blimey! I get about 32-36 litres in mine (do about 30 miles after light comes on) and it costs around £34 to tank up. On average i get between 250 - 300 miles to a tank (depending on the right foot obviously). I reckon i average anywhere between 30 and 38 mpg. Buy one mate - you won't be disappointed.
  3. fair do's mate - hard graft - they've come up a treat though! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shades:" border="0" alt="shades.gif" />
  4. totally agree andi. front arches on a gti certainly can't be rolled. alot of strength on modern front wings comes from plastic arch liner - mad, but true - that's why i couldn't get my front arches rolled!
  5. cars look fab chris and andy. the samco and the bmc look spot on bud. where'd you get all the hosing and how much was it matey?
  6. totally agree with this - as i said when i did the conversion i found my gto brakes scary at times - no worries now!
  7. bit of brute force needed i agree - but straight forward enough. check out my how to in the 'how to' section (funnily enough style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> ) calipers just sit on the drive shaft!
  8. muppets. sorry to hear this guys - as has been said great british justice system makes it pointless doing anything - even if you catch them report or 'detain' them what are they gonna get? 3 hours community servie while you get a few hundred quid repair bill and a ***** load of hassle. ass.
  9. yes mate! loads of 17's to choose from but you have to be careful (imho) with design - I went with what i think is a very vdub / bbs design - which i think really suit the loop - my all time fave wheels are bbs rc and these were as close as i could get.
  10. 7.5 x 17 will go on the back with ET 38 - 40. However if you are lowered on the front 7 x 17 max, with ET of 40, plus I think you really need 195x40 rubber. If not lowered 205x40 will be fine. Be careful with the design of the back of the alloy where it bolts to the car as it can catch on the caliper carrier and cause all sorts of headaches! Also I know Darren (black Loop above had to 'modify' the back of his spokes to get his rims to work properly). However, it has to be said that 17's can look fantastic, with the right alloy of course! (but then I would say that!) border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="IPB Image" />
  11. there's also the size and the fact that it's a 5 door - baby due to land on my head any day now! the seat thing is quite controversial (as i have been reading over the last few months on briskoda) seems skoda are washing their hands of it - which suprises me considering their high standing in jd power survey....
  12. dunno mate. have been pondering on and off for ages. guess a test drive will give me more info. thing is i'm really racking miles up on the loop - just hit 18,000 in 14 months - and it's no joke with the price of petrol. i have a 60 mile round trip every day, and tbh it's getting stupid how much it's costing me. i'd love to keep the loop (may have to yet with 2nd hand values) but i'm just keeping my mind open!
  13. all good - thanks guys - off to briskoda for a bit! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  14. as title please guys - just wondered what people have expeience of them, or views, Ta style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  15. i have standard plates - had one letter 20mm across - £30 fine and a torrent of abuse from sarcastic fool coppers. sent a nasty letter to fines collection idiots, fine was suspended, never paid it. having said that, i always wanted german plates, but the local plod are so bored they'll nick me straight away - probably as i was screwing them on.
  16. i'd have preferred to see a rear ended saxo! der, der, der, tish! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="doh.gif" />
  17. to add a little fuel to the fire i have been told that it's not adviseable to roll gti arches - well, that's what i was told by a very respected company. (this assuming you have a gti?)
  18. cheap as chips plate mate! here's the brother to yours!! border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="IPB Image" />

  20. they should be able to tell you what offset you'll need mate. TH mono's are well tasty (first set) although you may have problems lowering as i think they are 8" wide!

    TW*TS

i agree with all that's been said here mate - it's a real bummer when this sort of thing happens because of some brainless idiots. on a slightly lighter note - it shouldn't rust because it's aluminium mate. hope you get it sorted with little outlay. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  22. looks great chris - are they 8x15? phat wheels! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shades:" border="0" alt="shades.gif" />
  23. looks good mate - someone else had this done a while back - i like it. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shades:" border="0" alt="shades.gif" />
