  1. Tried a few garages but they all said prefer 'bread & butter' cars....(boring cars that are easy to sell) but thanks for the tip - will do some research into that. Can anyone recommend some other forums to post on? I only really used this one.
  2. No offence intended but I feel that at the price I have reduced this car to air con isn't an issue. When I bought the loop I didnt feel the extra cost was worth it for the few hot days we actually get in this country - its a personal choice....but £7500 for a 54 Reg, full history GTI is a very good asking price. Also, yes I agree that the Lupo GTI isnt a car you buy for the amount of gadgets or features it has....the money is in things like the one-off body & aluminium panels, the overall build quality and quality of materials, the fun driving experience it gives - its completely unique. What other forums could I advertise on? I have tried clubGTI, pistonheads, club polo and the (so far, so useless) autotrader.
  3. I'm selling as I have recently bought a property with my girlfriend and don't need (or want the cost of) 2 cars. She has a 1.0 Arosa which we use for commuting while the GTI spends 99% of its time looking pretty on the driveway. There is no finance or anything outstanding, so there's nothing even to worry about there. Renewed on Autotrader for another 2 weeks at the very reduced price. when I was looking for a GTI I would have loved to have found one like this - especially at the price its going for.
  4. I am amazed how long it is taking to sell my beloved lupo - its had a good life from new with me - always warmed up before going for a drive, oil changes every 5,000 miles with fully synthetic, full VW history on top and even VW warranty until Oct'.... I thought 2 weeks on autotrader would sell it no problem - but it seems to be too specialist a car - it would seem the masses are only interested in tin cans like Fiestas, 206's and Clio's!? ("Whats a Lupo?") How long have other GTI's taken to sell?.....I really wanted to see my car go to an enthusiast rather than a garage. The price (now reduced for quick sale) stands at £7,500 ono
  5. good for warming up the car quickly too
  6. as above.....although response is typical VW in my experience: "we've got your money, now feck off"
  7. yep that one....even if its not correct it still feels like a different box
  8. 6sp box is just a 5speeder with an extra gear added and a extra notch in the selector housing!! u can even see on the box casing were the extra gear is located. 5-6 speeder's are bulit exactly the same mate! having driven both it certainly doesnt feel like the same box with an added gear at the top the feel is different....and the review on top gears website agrees
  9. plenty of people use VW's gold fully synth in GTI's (me included) with no problems.
  10. i have written a load of b*ll*cks there. ignore it
  11. tenner a 15 inch wheel +VAT?????WHAT? Ive just seen one yesterday for £65+VAT!
  12. the 6 speed gives you a bit more flexibility when you driving....although id imagine the 0-60 time to be a little slower cos of having to shift up sooner. 6 speed box also has a much better feel, more precise and clunks into gear more cleanly.....of course its also better because 6 is a bigger number than 5 and more=better.
  13. ...in the VRS Vs. GTI comparison if it was flat out on a long open road my money would be on the skoda but on more 'normal' roads with roundabouts & bends Id say the Lupo everytime. £5700 is cheap if you have a look at what they go for on autotrader....can we fix the prices to keep residuals high?
  14. 5 reasons to buy a VW Lupo over a Ford KA: 1. Its a VW. (Image, looks, perceived quality, residuals, lifespan, etc.) 2. Its not a Ford. 3. Its not a Ford. 4. Its not a Ford. 5. Its not a Ford.
  15. also considered buying a Seat Ibiza FR but insurance price was quite a bit more and wasnt convinced on the looks
  16. its targeting the wrong people, even if they had the whole driving population sign up I dont think a boycott is a long term solution. @zippy. I would prefer to see tax increased on 'leisure' items (booze & fags) to fund a tax reduction on necessities like fuel
  17. 30k+ on the lethal dunlops? my fronts were worn to slicks by 20K....I didnt rotate them & could have had more life out the rears but just put them on the front for some sideways fun until I had a set of Toyo's fitted. The car is more capable than ever, wish Id changed them much sooner.
  18. i agree, mine were ok when i did it on my arosa for 15k....but its still a crap ride
  19. 60mm springs wouldnt pop out unless theyre actually shorter than the standard springs and usually theyre longer....but they will of course destroy your shocks as theyre just not designed to work together & will bottom out on bigger bumps. It also wont handle very well....to be blunt its a bodge up way to lower a car but is a cheap way to get the low look.

    60mm...........

did it on my arosa. looked great but wouldnt bother again
  21. right im sorted.....where can I get some decent pads online then? the german swedish & french car parts site is useless cos theres not enought details to check the orders right....and this other one came up with £150 for some pagid pads! ARGHH
  22. the leverage thing works...just get a screwdriver to prise the metal clip off & the plastic cap will pull away, then youll need some pointy pliers to get the bulb holder out.
  23. Had the loop serviced & was told my front pads are 70% worn but; 'not to worry we can change them for £90'! Not done it before but changing front brake pads cant be that difficult can it? Is there a guide anywhere or can anyone give me some pointers so I dont damage anythin Im looking at getting some Pagid ones cos they seem to come well recommended....any other brands I should consider and wheres the best prices online?
  24. yeah i saw it on the filler cap but i just thought that cant be right having more pressure on tha back but OK.
  25. what pressure should my tyres be at? (standard wheels on 205/45/15 toyo's)
