  1. http://www.terraclean.co.uk/ this will sort out a proper clean..about £100.... PS Ref the purge? Why not replace the whole filter for a new one? Surely it has a cotton filter in it of sorts?
  2. Yeah...the dull fizzle of a fuse....I don't know went it went, within the last couple of weeks....like I say, I had all the clusters off and checked them....I also sprayed some contact cleaner in, so will keep an eye on it now....next hurdle is the Mrs spotted 2 of the high level brake light are out too, so just searching the forum to see if I can replace individual bulbs, or poss with LEDs...
  3. Skezza....hi, my first thoughts and I had it all apart earlier on....the clusters are in mint condition, no misting, damp signs of corrosion or a thing.....wires all nicely routed through the rectangular connectors etc, no signs of breaks....I gave them a shot of electrical contact cleaner for good measure, but unless I have a double bulb failure inside 2 weeks, there is something lurking I suspect......
  4. Hi, Recently picked up a TDi and the dealer said they had replaced the N/S rear bulb.....then, yesterday, I spotted it had gone again.....the dealers assure me it was changed, so am thinking I have a chafing wire, bad earth, corrosion or some type of electrical issue..... Are there any known issues? I was going to pop the tail light cluster for starters...car is all stock/OEM apart from an Alpine stereo....no other mods, rubbers in excellent condition where tailgate closes etc....... Just after any known knowns.....if any....thanks
  5. Fixed with new wiper stalk. Old stalk had bust, as has like a half way point, where the wipers just froze. Felt like some knackered old Citroen or something from the 70's. All done now, works fine.
  6. Hi, I have also just picked up a Sport Tdi....I just had the engine Terra Cleaned. I had a passat and then a T5 and had those both done...it cleans out all of the crap and carbon in your engine and EGR.....I have been very happy with all 3 cars that i had done......its about £100 to have it done.....I work in the Oil and Gas industry and this process was kind of found in error in Canada I think....it will put back some MPG and makes everything that little bit smoother.....I also run my on a tank of Shell Nitropower diesel too....if you are new to VW Tdi's, you don't have to thrash the engine, but driving them firmly through the revs and into top gear helps to keep things burning well.....so don't over-rev, but don't be overly gentle with it.... http://www.terraclean.co.uk/
  7. I was in vw yesterday and the aftermarket accessory from VW is actually 20mm.....assuming it's a non gti....
  8. Still buggered. 99 did not work. With the cowl off I reckon there is some wear in the wiper stalk. Have it booked in for cruise at awesome gti, so they can swap it over then. Should cure it.....
  9. Sorry if this isn't styling but I have been struggling to find any leads on this..... For the metal GTI Pedals, can these be retrofitted or is the way the pedal held on different? I had a quick look and my Sport Tdi seemed to have rubber covers plopped over a hard plastic one? But could not feel anything obvious around the back..... Any pointers? thanks....
  10. Ok....same on BMW Z3 for angel eyes etc.....ok, so no covers on. Have noted some glass refurb kits so will give those a try or my Bentley smokers toothpaste a crack first. Spoke to vw and they only sell sealed units at £110, so the lens can't be bought on its own. At least I know what's what now and I know this is just the light unit now....cheers
  11. I have a 1.4tdi sport that's covered 76k and wanted to fit the oem 30mm, i assume Eibach, springs that are on the gti. Are the shocks standard? Or can anyone recommend a basic suspension that lowers the car a bit, but doesn't make it so hard that your fillings fall out.... I have a T5 with bilstein b14 coil overs, which are great, but didn't want anything that expensive as the lupo only goes to Aldi and other quick runs etc....but am swallowing the lupo bug already so who knows....
  12. Yeah, so that is the actual lens then....I did review some images and concluded that the covers were a bit chunkier and likely to be more obvious....So is the out lens glass or plastic? Is that a replaceable part then once they become shot blasted with wear? I assumed it was a sealed unit, so this upped clip surprised me..? Does the bumper have to be off to access the whole lamp....Nothing urgent, just after a steer as no Haynes manual yet......thanks
  13. Just had my Lupo, oh 2.5 days now and just going a few things.... I noticed a clip at the top of the headlight with a black gasket around the whole headlight...I suspect that unclipping it, pulling it back, would then un-seat from the bottom etc.....? They look a bit misted, but my passat had a similar challenge. Some guys at Bentley advised using smokers toothpaste, which did the trick..... Just want to rule out that I am NOT unclipping the out headlight cover if you follow.......like I say, I think its plastic and not glass. So yeah, if you cant see a very obvious plastic clip at the 12 o'clock of your light, then I guess you have none on? Literally not seen one Lupo in the surrounding area to quickly eyeball one.....
  14. Ok, thats much clear now...I did a search for "relay 99" and have found some VAG/VW ones on ebay etc. Just for own understanding, are the symptoms I described common? i.e. How do you know its the stalk itself? Or is it a case of starting with cheapest/easiest to replace part first and work through them....will order a 99, but would just like to understand your rationale thanks.....
  15. Ok, sounds interesting.......but whats a relay 99? Are you on about a fuse change on #19?

And there it be....woke up to see this cheeky chap behind the T5 this morning....very pleased.... ">http://http://s273.photobucket.com/user/ianf1969/media/Lupo/12002256_10207788065645020_1355415009035803669_n_zpsi5pbgv2s.jpg.html'>
  17. Hi, I have just picked up an 02 Lupo with some unbranded (2 x Autoguard, Uniroyal and a Hifly). The car is in A1 condition and was lady owned, so I suspect these are just budget tyres from Black Circles or where ever. Bottom line is I'll be swapping these 185/55/14"'s for some Hankook 4S tyres all round. If anyone wants tyres, please get in touch with a quick offer....they have plenty of tread on and don't look bad at all. If they were "crap" I would just junk them myself as tyres are after all an important safety feature and are the 4 items that are between you and the next life!
  18. HI, Just picked up a 2nd hand Lupo, am 02 with 76k. Very, tidy no signs of abuse. One and pretty much the only snag is I have noted that when I switch the wipers on, as I operate the stalk or change speeds, select rear etc, the wipers stop for a second or so. Have owned a few VWs and never seen this......could it be a work wiper stalk? i.e. actually floppy/intermittent etc? Anyone had this? I see a lot of wiper stalks sold on Ebay so is this a common problem.... Grateful for any feedback......thanks
  19. Martin, I could not find a UK distributor when I got mine...they mention in the order NOT sending the brake cleaner, but mine came with it. On deliver, Royal Mail sent a letter in the post saying it was at customs. I paid an import fee of about £18. If the package Is low, it will be free I think.....as its value, not the goods they are taxing.... I shot blasted my calipers and replaced all the seals etc. I did the inside and outside of the caliper, but only one layer on the inside where the faces move against one another. The sliders take most of the movement, so I guess it depends on the tolerances between the calipers. Obviously you don't have to strip the whole thing, you could just use a drill and wire brush on what you see I guess. Anyway, read the reviews, I can try and add a shot of my z3 calipers...nice paint, it doesn't go off quickly, so just build it up in thin layers. 20. Martin, Hi, I don't know the exact code....I recently did a my BMW Z3 calipers with some aircraft grade paint from the USA. It cost about £50 i think plus about £20 on import. They do a custom VW red for calipers called tornado red. The paint is a 2 two pack, kind of plastic stuff.....it goes on really nice...loads in a pot, would do 2-3 Lupo's I suspect.... http://www.g2usa.com/product/CBCP-LY3D.html As not much caliper is on show, I suspect this would perhaps be ok? Owners of G2 have reported >7 years or more with it on.....as its aircraft grade, its resistant to the elements...they look fab on my Z in silver and show no sign of peeling. Other than that, choose some cotton from a shop and reverse engineer the pantene code.....it might be a custom job.....Ian
