I do feel for your situation as it's obviously costing you money - but you take a punt when you do such a thing am I right? Apple will always be **** hot with stuff like this. For example Palm made the Pre phone compatible with iTunes and within days Apple had an update to stop it. In comparison to Microsoft, Apple like you to play a lot more - but only by their own rules.

Apple had their famous 'Black Friday' sale yesterday so I took a trip into Manchester and bagged myself a copy of iWork 09 for £44. Not bad compared to the normal RRP of £69. Also picked up an 8gb iPod Touch earlier in the week but managed to get it for £119 (refurb). I was very surprised how quickly iWork installed, I can only imagine Word/Excel/Powerpoint would be a chore. iWork was on in 5 mins with just a couple of clicks! Now I realise that I don't need it

I hope for your sake they build them better than they used to, but I can't help but think 'you get what you pay for' when spending such a small amount on so many high specs. If you can extend your warranty, do so. Thing is with Acer if they go wrong they don't have anyone in the UK that can help - you have to send your laptop to Germany and when I was contemplating doing this I decided not to based on the 100's of stories about people not ever getting them back.

Steer clear from Acer, seriously BAD computers. You should have bought Al's Macbook a couple of weeks back, that was £400 ish and a MAC!! Buy Apple if you can. a 5 year old Apple Macbook will be 10x better than a brand new Acer. Or any PC for that matter.

Interesting to know about screen quality. 32" was OK but just felt I wanted bigger for the difference I sit from the TV. Usually found myself pulling my sofa forwards so maybe 40" is my way forwards! Thanks for all ideas, I'm still searching!

Hi, I'm looking to buy a 37" LCD TV in the next few weeks, with a maximum budget of £500 for the right model, but the closer to £400 - the better! I have seen Samsung 32" LCD's for as low as £285 and would settle for the smaller screen to be honest if the price difference is that much... BUT deep down I do really want the extra 5" (the girls tell me it's important...) so if you have a TV you recommend, or you have seen/know of any good deals about - please let me know

Agree 100%. Airport and Airtunes is genius. Download 'Airfoil' to get it to work with all applications on a Mac...

iPhones hold their value incredibly well although I fear they won't now that they're going to be more widely available. Which is a bummer because I buy mine from Apple outright!

I upgraded, but I did a fresh install onto a new hard drive at the same time so might not be same scenario... But my unibody is happy with SL and touch wood, so far I've had no battery problems. In fact, I would go as far as to say I'm seeing improved battery life...
