  1. got a whole Arosa SDI that needs to go, good gearbox too https://www.gumtree.com/p/seat/seat-arosa-sdi/1149426674
  2. I'm in the position of having a perfectly good SDI gearbox with a question mark over the engine and a perfect engined SE but can't swap the gearboxes. Unless anyone could tell me that I can
  3. my sons car is jumping out of 5th gear, last time it happened filling up the gearbox with gear oil sorted it, this time it hasn't, apart from this the gearchange is slick and the clutch is light, I'm presuming that I need a new box
  4. I don't think it'll go much past £700 with the misfire, the body colour's nice but the interior colours are nasty
  5. 1998 Arosa SDI a mark 1 car with decent body and interior, too good to scrap https://www.gumtree.com/p/seat/seat-arosa-sdi/1149426674
  6. clear on a data check but dealer says the misfire is constant after the engine warms up
  7. might be worth running a data check on it, nice to have both air con and auto though
  8. this is a link to an e-bay sale of a Lupo Auto, the seller has included an extraordinarily long list of invoices http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-VOLKSWAGEN-LUPO-1-4-16V-S-AUTO-AUTOMATIC-GREEN-P-X-TO-CLEAR-/321972573353?hash=item4af70f94a9:g:UpgAAOSwYIhWktIY
  9. I am selling a diesel Arosa SDi 1.7, car is MOT'd and drivable currently on Gumtree, gearbox is good https://www.gumtree.com/p/seat/seat-arosa-sdi/1149426674

I did and the SDI is hardly a modern diesel is it

when it first happened the engine was very thoroughly warmed up and I threw it into a corner, so made me think the oil level might be low, which it wasn't. The clock says 120k which is quite low for a 1998 car but rather than a synthetic I'll flush it, fit a new filter and use an oil recommended for older diesels

my problems with the Arosa SDI have re emerged, it's actually running more smoothly and pulling better the more often I use it, however the oil pressure buzzer has started flashing and going off in a random manner. Oil levels are fine and I've recently changed both oil and filter. This is puzzling me and suggests a fault further up the line, any ideas anyone, the oil is a semi synthetic allrounder rather than specifically for diesel
  13. Arosa Sport seats are a worthwhile improvement over the standard, much more supportive and well worth fitting if you can find them, and being an option a piece of cake to fit
  14. in the dim and distant past I used them in my Mk 2 Golf GTI and I thought they were fantastic
  15. better to try the fix with an Up that has light front end damage, not sure how it would be in a heavier smash though given the crumple-ability tests used in NCAP
  16. there was no 1.6 sport only the 100 bhp version of the 1.4 16v engine
  17. Back in the 1980's the 1.6 and 1.8 litre Golf engines R4 shared the same basic layout the block was the same the difference in capacity due to different cranks and it was possible but not recommended to put the famous 16v head onto a 1.6 block. It wasn't recommended because the 1.8 16v block had extra oil pathways. These units were though a fundamentally different design from the 1.3 litre engine that was to be developed into the 1.4 Lupo unit, as was the 1.6 which was a further development of this earlier engine.
  18. I can take pictures of a Arosa Sport 1.4 16v 100 bhp with a Longlife stainless exhaust if that's a help but it's a single central exhaust
  19. its difficult to find any information on this, I've got a feeling it's a dealer or a specialist task but if anyone has done it they should be on this forum, try copying this thread onto the Lupo section
  20. I need an early Bosch diesel injection pump for my 1998 1.7 diesel SDi, one from a later immobilizer fitted car can't be fitted. This is an early car so its ecu engine management is unsophisticated, not sure if that's a good thing though. Thanks
  21. its an older model no immobiliser, no dpf and a much simpler brain will this still help
  22. even bio diesel is a mixture, but on the issue of fossil fuels running out I think that what will happen is that the easier accessible fossil fuels will be depleted but there will always be more out there, possibly in tiny quantities but it will always be there somewhere. If I can make an analogy, the length of the UK coastline is 12,429 kms, but if you try to measure it, every turn, angle, or indent, the number becomes infinite
  23. diesels were designed to run on vegetable oil by the inventor so there's lots of other sources out there for bio diesel
