  1. Cleaned the car today just trying to get the paintwork up to scratch. Consisted of snow foam, shampoo, clay bar and then waxing. I'm ordering some ap coilovers soon and getting some paintwork corrected.
  2. For me personally it's when the clutch is pressed. It's almost as if I've blipped the throttle while changing gear.
  3. Today I got around to cleaning the engine bay, adding a red grille trim, change the side lights to match the xenons so they're not yellow anymore. I also cut some red carbon fibre effect vignyl and changed my badges back to red as they had gone white. Already I need to re do the front badge but that will be another day.
  4. Some pictures after today's machine polishing. Managed to get plenty of scratches out, although I'm going to get a quote for the deeper ones which will need spraying.
  5. Basically I changed both batteries and nothing worked. Then I took the keys apart again and noticed that the contact which touches the battery was bent up,it was as simple as bending it back into contact with the battery and then they were both working again. Chuffed that it was an easy fix.
  6. I've got both keys working now. Feels very odd using the remote central locking after owning the car for over two years. Also some more pictures after a clean yesterday using dodo juice.
  7. My opinion is take the advice from everybody else but if you want the GTI then go for it. I'm 21 in June and I've had my GTI since I was 18. Yes I paid more in insurance but it has dropped drastically over the last few years. Although I have had a few cars before the Lupo the first being a classic mini and the last being a Clio sport 172. Personally it's down to how you drive and whether you have previous experience driving,as others have said I've been driving and riding vehicles from an early age.
  8. Hi guys does anybody have any suggestions on what I can use to tackle rust on the outer parts of my disks. It looks so bad and the brakes have only been on the car for a few weeks. Also does anyone know where the correct positioning is for xenons? I've adjusted then manually but ideally I would like them the way they should be as I've just guessed. Thanks
  9. Nope. I'm sure that both keys are knackered. None of them have any power. Not sure what to do next.
  10. Got the front end in the garage today to change the HT leads for some OEM ones to fix a misfire. Then went onto using the snow foam lance for the first time,I'm pleased with the results. I'm hoping that the weather is better next weekend.
  11. Is that when you put one key in the ignition and do the lock ect?
  12. I've owned the car for over two years and the central locking has never worked from the fob so yeah at some point it will have been disconnected.
  13. I'm so confused haha! First things first I will try and figure out about the power with the multimeter. I don't see why the red light wouldn't flash unless say the board on the key was broken ect.
  14. I actually replaced the battery tonight in both keys and still no luck. The red light on the key isn't even coming up when I press the buttons.
  15. Hi guys I'm looking for some help. I have two keys for my car and neither will lock/unlock the car from the fob. I've replaced the batteries on both keys and the red light still isn't flashing? Both keys will lock and unlock the car from the door barrel and will also start the car but the alarm will go off if you don't get it into the ignition fast enough. Also once unlocked my passenger side door doesn't unlock. I have to click unlock on the window switch. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
  16. Thanks guys. I will get some AS G101 for this weekend then.
  17. Awesome thanks for the reply. Do you cover up any electrics? Also have you ever tried snow foaming the engine bay?
  18. Stunning. I can only dream of getting mine looking this good. Quick question,do you wash your own engine bay? If so what's your method for doing it? Mine is a mess.
  19. So tonight I'm taking a look at one of my keys. When I bought the car I was given two keys. Neither of them worked from the remote to unlock the car I've always put the key in the door to unlock the car. The central locking works but the only thing is when I unlock the car only the drivers side unlockes,is this normal? I have to get in the car and click the button on the window switch to unlock the passenger side door. Anyway I want to be able to lock and unlock my car from the buttons so I'm hoping that it will be as easy as replacing the battery inside although I doubt that it's going to be that simple. I will re post once the new battery is in and will see what happens.
  20. Re posting on here now as I've started doing work to my Lupo again,it's been a long time since I've updated but the car has had nothing done to it. Recently it has had All new Mtec brake disks and pads Cambelt and water pump drivers side window switch passenger side check strap Full service with all new oils and filters. New thermostat and housing I've probably missed the odd thing out on that list but the work is continuing as ive already got more parts coming. Trying to bring this GTI back to life. Anyway today I took all of my wheels off because I wanted to make my pink callipers red again. With enough time and effort I managed to clean them up pretty nicely and polish them up back to red. While I was there I removed all the settled brake dust I could from the Bathursts, there is a little left but it wasn't coming off. I'm intending on getting them refurbished anyway because of the curbing. Hopefully next weekend it's not raining so that I can give the bodywork some attention, hopefully my magifoam will have arrived by then. Does anybody have any advice on keeping the surfice rust away on the disks? It looks horrible.
  21. Has anybody on here got a full Kam Racing exhaust fitted on their GTI? I was just wondering what the opinions are on it and what the twin tailpipes look like fitted on the car if you went for that option. Thanks
  22. Looks great. Which coilovers have you got and did you measure how much you lowered it by?
  23. Sounds like because of the speed the wind is dislodging the glass. I've had the problem with previous older cars.
  24. Yeah I will give them a call. I don't suppose you've had your wheels refurbished have you? I've had a look around and £75 per wheel seems pretty steep
