no, that wasnt me, sounds like the guy u bought it from got it from the dude i sold it to, looking at the dates....like i said mate it was mint when i had it, i got it from a small dealer in my town who specialised in hat hatches etc, he had it in part ex on something said the guy was an older gent who had it for his wife or something, before that the first registered owner was VW dealer. so no repainting, or re registering on my part mate. only thing up with it when i had it was a small ding in the lower front bumper (u can see it in my pics) where i parked a little too close to a big rock around the car park at the gym i used to go to and the drivers mirror was a little damaged where someone drove too close to me down a lane and clipped it, other than that everything was standard and in very good condition, including the interior and all mechanics, also had full service history up until i sold it if i remember correctly. hope this is helping you with any queries!?

oh, and it was pretty much mint when i sold it, i really looked after this car and treated it like it was gonna be the last car id ever own......i bloody loved this car, was only saying to my girlfriend the other day how i really missed this car!!!!

didnt own it from new, think it had 9k on the clock when i had it and when i sold it it had around 46k, used it as my daily drive and absolutely loved it. Really didnt want to sell it but when to persue my scuba career in thailand and needed the money, also not much use the car sitting here in uk when i was living overseas. Sold it to a guy from near Stroud i think who was also on here for a while....dont think he liked it much after having it for a while and was trying to sell it by the march (i sold it in sept). some more pics..... this was just after id spent a few hours cleaning, waxing and polishing it, probably the shiniest it ever was.

  8. Nice car mate!!! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  9. I know its been on here before but how do you reset the ECU to get rid of warning lights etc Tried a search but it was being a fool!! Nick
  10. Hi everyone, ive just returned from 4 months travelling around Oz and NZ and my car has been in the garage since i left just after christmas. Now i jump started the car and she started with no problems but when driving the brake system warning light is flickering and the ABS light is on, also a little alarm keeps sounding. Is this due to the battery having difficulty charging fully and maybe affecting the electrics, i say this as when i tried to turn on the lights all sorts of lights lit up on the dash and the car almost died. Or do i need to get something re set as the battery has been dead for so long. Help if you can Cheers Nick
  11. copy and pasted from a post a while back...... Below is a pic of mine with all tools in place, small spanner, screwdriver thing, centre cap removal tool, locking nut tool and tyre foam. Ignore tow rope etc I put those in there!! border="0" class="linked-image" /> oh and you should have an air compresser as well. Hope this helps mate. Nick. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  12. The Gti rear seats in the 4 seat option (standard) are split into 2 seperate seats right down the middle, no bench seat so you must have the correct seat in, just no middle seatbelt fitted. Could this cause problems with MOT? Maybe worth talking to mitch.
  13. I got pulled accelerating upto about 80mph on a dual carrageway by a dog van, he could only give me a warning as it took him ages to catch me up and he said he was by himself and his vehicle was not calibrated (didn't have a camera etc to prove speed in court). This was backed up by a freind who works closely with the police in his job. Also the gun could have been for checking number plates, tax or something else, just have to watch out for the post!!!! Come to think of it i also got warned by a unmarked car with 4 coppers in it, they were filming chavs doing burnouts etc and using a handycam to video the cars when they were pulled over and spot checked for dodgy tyres, exhausts etc. This copper also said as the car was not calibrated and the handycam didn't show the speed they could not use this as evidence! I overtook them at about 60 in a 40 zone not realising it was full of coppers!!!!
  14. Normally a car pulling to one side under heavy breaking is something broken in the suspension area if i remember correctly.
  15. Cool, cheers mate, i spotted that screw and thought it might be something to do with the mechanism inside so didnt want to piss about with it. Ill have a go at it tonight. Thanks again. Nick
  16. On Friday night some dick clipped my drivers side mirror, luckily only a small crack in the casing which looks like it can be glued without it really noticing. But the casing has come apart along the join with the matt black part along the bottom, i have tried clipping it back together but am using quite a bit of force with no luck (dont want to break it!!) so i think my only option is to take the whole mirror off and have a proper look at it. It looks like i have to unscrew the mirror from behind the panel at the front of the door on the inside but again gave this a bit of a yank and its not moving (again dont want to break it) so if this is correct any tricks of how to remove this without snapping it in half, i presume its held on with some sort of clips. Thanks in advance. Nick. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> PS its a GTI.
  17. Ive got 5 part worn dunlops, open to offers on them, but im based near Bristol, could meet halfway if the price was right though!!
  18. Mine seems to always read about halfway, never higher, i think the fan has only cut in once!!
  19. Here is part of my post from a topic in car maintenance. Below is a pic of mine with all tools in place, small spanner, screwdriver thing, centre cap removal tool, locking nut tool and tyre foam. Ignore tow rope etc I put those in there!! border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> oh and you should have an air compresser as well. Hope this helps mate. Nick. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  20. Dont get the Dunlops!!! Go for Toyo T1R's they come in 205/45/15 that is standard on the GTI. You won't regret it either, really good in the wet, unlike the ****ty Dunlops!!! and at £60 odd quid a tyre not a bad price. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shades:" border="0" alt="shades.gif" />
  21. If you have a GTI the towing eye is already fitted as mentioned by Crusoe and backed up again by Steve. If you remove the drivers side cover (i think) it will be behind there. So if it is a GTI the only thing I can see missing from your pic is the tool to remove the centre caps from the bathursts.
  22. i've got the knock! sounds like its coming from where the steering lock locates. Has only just started but i'm glad others may have the same problem as i had visions of the wheel coming off im my hand!! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":surprise:" border="0" alt="surprise.gif" />
  23. John, try camskill.com thats where I got mine from, got them delivered straight from Toyo. £63 each if i remember correctly.
