Car will only start from been bumped off
Bigfoot replied to oliespurr's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
check that the thin wire going to the starter is still in place as this activates the starter. try hitting the starter with a hammer/pole whilst operating the starter and if it jumps into life a clean out should sort it (I throw my old one of a wall a couple of times) and it was right as rain lol -
EPC..? No more brake lights..
Bigfoot replied to iLupo's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
brake light switch more than likely buddy as been said, their £10-£15 from the dealer and doesnt take long to change (is above the brake pedal on the pedal box). And also as said will need vagcom/ scanner to clear the error code which puts the epc light on. -
would disconnecting the battery for a while help at all? if it seems like its a self learning issue?

just took the door cards off and you can hear the relay clicking when you operate the switch but nothing moves. also checked the cables, the rear is tight and the forward cable is quite loose but when operating switch nothing changes. any ideas ?? cheers Andy

It doesnt have aftermarket speakers thats for sure as it was fine until December there where both windows would only go down 3/4 and now the passenger one wont work anymore. I knew about the speaker thing as i bolloxed that up on my old 1.0l lupo a few years back

2001 Seat Arosa Sport if it makes a difference. I know its not the switches because they can be heard trying to operate the windows. Drivers side goes 3/4 of the way down then stops, like something is blocking its travel? Passenger side was doing the same as the drivers side, and now will not go down although you can hear the switch trying to operate something in the door. Also when using the key in the drivers door the drivers window goes down and stops 3/4 of way down and passenger side doesnt move. Any ideas? Going to take the passenger side door card off in a bit to have a look. Cheers Andy

was it the cam-crank belt or the cam to cam belt? Same thing happened to a mates polo gti yesterday
-
The alternator belt still there? A stray shoe broke mine into alot of little bits not too long ago and the car wasn't too chuffed with there being no charge going to the battery. Easiest way to check if your belt is still in tact is that there will be no power steering as it is driven off the same belt. But try jump start the car first with jump leads

My mates cam belt snapped but fortunately he has a spare head lying about to put on so hopefully the pistons ain't knackered. Just trying to find out what the torque settings are for fitting the new head on. Already found the 'cambelt change' thread on here which will be getting done as well. Any help would be fantastic Cheers Andy

about did this as i was offered a slightly damadged 3L front end. you would need.... slam panel, headlights, grill, indicators, upper and lower bumper, wings, bonnet and bonnet dampener.

After removing the EGR valve does the engine management light come on and stay on? Looking to DIY decat and blank the bits off soon for some more noise and performance lol
-
what about a NOS build? ITB's, Headwork, cams, 4 branch, exhaust and then some NOS thrown in? Just a guesstimate, but would cost in region of 3-4 grand, keep the 1.6 engine and would be NA. Wouldn't expect the engine to last too long though Btw... anyone know what parts you need to toughen when installing NOS?
-
Would i be right in thinking that you could change the 1400 sport bottom end for a 1600 polo gti bottom end and receive the same effect?
-
6 speed wont fit mate as the bolts dont line up. You can also use any gearbox out of the mk4 polo as well, except for diesel polo gearboxes.
-
Know it was a big ARB on the Arosa's
-
arosa sport's use the same front arb as lupo gti's so if your ordering poly's, order lupo gti ones
