    fin aerials

This is kind of what I thought the Ae would be like ( bad reception) as I suspect the electrical length of the ae is not big enough, but fingers crossed it doesn't turn out to be just a small coathanger in a fancy black box. It does state on the link that it is an AM/FM aerial not a satnav/mobile phone aerial though so whoknows how good it will be.

    fin aerials

No I was looking more at one one of these Ebay Link Look fairly small according to photo's (nut is 12mm for scale comparison). May just have to get one next month and see what they are like, would prefer some more advice though, and naturally I'll keep you up to date with any probs once I get the Ae. (fed up typing 'aerial' fingers go mental, so its Ae now for me!)
  7. Is there a meet on in the Bracknell area because thats not too far away from me, or is that a different meet type thingy? New to all this car scene stuff!! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" />

    fin aerials

Hmm, thats one big aerial on that Black Loop, not sure if its the small type I'm after or whether its one of these covers that go over the original aerial mount. Cheers for the photo though, looks v good style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

    fin aerials

What is everybody's feeling about these shark fin aerials, you know the BMW/Saab type. Any known problems fitting them ie clearences/radio reception? Can't seem to find any pictures of a Loop with one fitted so I have no idea what to expect! Cheers
  10. CD player fitted style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Bloke in Halfords "Nah mate we dant do dem mate" Me style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" /> Anyone got any partnumbers/wiring diagrams to help me with getting some lights on my CD player please.
  11. Yeah I've seen these vans before on motorway slip roads in Hampshire, tax/mot/insurance checking thingies I think too!
  12. Not sure about compatibility of your headunit but radio removal keys /pins are on EBay. Hope this helps a bit at least.
  13. I just changed my cup holder to a coin tray (the under CD player type) and have a cup holder minus front plate here if you want it? I'll sort out a price for postage etc if you are interested PM me. Oh and the front plates are interchangable, one has a cup picture on it the other doesn't but they fairly expensive from VW so I just swapped mine over.
  14. Just got back from Hols and CD unit pitches up tomorrow so should be fitting it then.
  15. Looks cool, hope it makes it to the dealerships like that! There is just one thing though....... The back end looks like Finding Nemo's face in green instead of orange!
  16. Hmmm, isn't there a saying about making a silk purse out of a sow's ear...... Bring back fox hunting (only for VW fox's though!!) style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sick.gif" />
  17. No I don't have a single disc player at the moment, so guess I'll have to get this lead or is it something I can make? is there a part no. or is it just a straight forward splice from the existing head unit to the CD changer? VW or Helfrauds for it maybe?
  18. Picking up a VW CD changer (its the in dash type) soon and was wondering whether there were any common problems in fitting them ie, cable adaptors, lighting wiring etc? I've tried looking on the FAQ and can't find anything style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" /> Cheers oh and it is the normal Gamma headunit I have at the moment. Cheers
  19. Official VW Headlight Protectors DO FIT Lupo GTi's, you just need to be slighty more careful shutting the bonnet ie. don't slam it down. I know this as my car came with them fitted so there is proof out there! However after one of them saved my headlight I found out they were £30!!!!! a set from VW, mind you how much is a headlight? not cheap I bet. The car does look better with no headlight protectors on though, only thing is the roads around here a rubbish and full of stones dropped by HGV's so I can't do without them. If you want a better fit you can file off approx 2mm from the top of protector and you will have no issues with bonnet slamming, I have not bothered though and they work fine. Hope this sorts the original question out.
  20. Allways figured the ignition had a critical point for maximum downward motion on the piston. I think it is a bit like this.... The fuel mixture is ignited prior to TDC so as to give time for the fuel air mixture to fully ignite/expand and therefore take full advantage of the downward (power) stroke of the piston. ie bigger bang = more powerful downstroke. Does this help any, if not well I think you are stuck with... Suck, Squeeze, Bang, Blow !! 21. Cheers for the link greatly appreciated, the wheels look great, look forward to putting some on before winter starts.
  22. Sounds like you managed to get that sorted for E38, guess my timings a bit shabby! I've had a look through readers rides and still can't really find what I'm after on the wheel front, Oh well I'll see something on a loop oneday that I fancy. ps Very friendly well run site and group, very impressed!
