i think its recommended to change the cambelt every 30k or 3 years whichever is first, and as far as i know its only 2 keys - one with remote locking and one normal one (at leats for arosas thats the case, im sure some one will clarify this soon enough tho!!) as for things to look out for id say check the gearbox as they are prone to problems - but VW fix them FOC as far as im aware, good luck with the car anyway hope it turns out to be a good'un!

saw these 2 today when on a mini run with the guys from Mini2 we all drove past the yellow one (lowered, exhaust, black front badge) as we were driving towards wray, looked well nice saw a few of the mini lot look at it as it drove past! the green one was parked outside a house in the village anyone from on here? if so your very lucky - some quality roads up your way!
