  1. Eibach really are highly recommended, so much so that they are really the only brand I'm considering. They aren't too low and maintain good ride quality, which is exactly what I'm after. I guess you get what you pay for though! Jon
  2. Thats good to know then, the eibach springs are highly recommended so i think ill go for them. We compared my car to Cardafts TDi and 1.0 Arosas, and mine rolls so much more! I was planning to keep the original shocks as i'm only lowering by 30mm. Yep they were taken right near your house Phil! It was really awkward to get the photos, as you say the windmills are too big to get a full picture of them. I took about 30 photos and those were the only decent ones! Hmm not too sure about that style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  3. Eibach do nice 30mm ones style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Eibach 30mm springs Jon
  4. Yep I'm in 5th at 30, doing about 1100rpm I think. Its impossible to accelerate though, have to change down to go any faster. I seem to be averaging about 42 mpg at the moment, its been going down progressively since I got the car. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":angry2:" border="0" alt="angry.gif" /> I have been trying to drive more economically, even got overtaken by a hearse yesterday! Just get sooo bored though!
  5. Yep I know what you mean, sometimes I wonder where they saved the money on the Arosa style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> . As for mods, I've just fitted some Aero wiper blades. Just doing small things for now. I think in the spring I might upgrade the ARB (fit the GTi ARB maybe), then get some eibach springs. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  6. I got the part number for an 'ESP' switch (the only suitable switch I could find), and went to the parts department at the VW dealer and ordered it. I think they are having to ship it over from Germany, as when I went to collect it it was on 'back order' from the factory style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  7. Thats the reason I posted it. I find this forum very useful and wanted to make my own contribution. Yep me too, thats why I fitted it style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Thankyou Al. I joined this forum to find out more about my car, and I think the forum does a pretty good job, as there are so many helpful and friendly members willing to share information about these cars. I posted details of the pollen filter in the interests of helping other members, which is what I thought the forum was all about. If thats what you think then why bother posting on here. I posted it because I have not seen anyone else do it to their Lupo, and clearly people are interested and want to do the same themselves. Oh and a big thanks to Chris for letting me take his pollen filter to bits and get the part numbers off it style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  8. I've been looking for an interior switch to replace one of the blanks, in the end I ordered a switch new from VW. You would either have to find an option for the mk1 arosa which put an extra switch where the blanks would be, and try and get hold of one of those switches, or get a switch from Maplins or somewhere and cut a hole in one of the blanks and fit it in. Depends on how original you want it to look really.
  9. So would you care to explain what your problem with my pollen filter is? CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is always welcome. Oh and I'm not your 'mate', I don't even know you style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> .

    Lowering springs

    Eibach do 30mm pro kit springs, I'm thinking about getting some. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  11. Took a couple more photos of the lupo, and thought I may as stick them up, as I havent updated this in a while. Mesh front grill, polo aero rear wiper, pollen filter, and Bora sunglasses holder all fitted border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> From a couple of recent meets: border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> The pollen filter is easy to fit, if a little fiddly. Part numbers: 6N2 815 645 COVER £2.73 1H0 819 648 FRAME £3.53 6N2 819 640 B HOUSING £13.69 . The pollen filter bits on the right, compared to the old mesh, bottom left border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> Fitted: border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> Jon
  12. Cheers for the info. I think I'll see about getting the gearbox oil changed too, as my gearchange is really stiff. I'm just hoping its not the pedal box, its only on 21K miles! Jon
  13. Oh right ok, so the plug is just there to stop dirt/dust getting in then? Just seemed strange that both our cars had the plug loose. Maybe it popped out with vibrations from the engine or something style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> Cheers, Jon
  14. Anybody know what this plug is for then? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" />
  15. I was checking the car over today, and I noticed an opening in the top of the gearbox, with the plug not fitted in. What is this opening for, and should the plug be pushed in? I checked the other lupo too and it was the same (they get serviced by the same person, maybe he forgot to put it back in?) Well I pushed and plug back in, and this is what it looks like now: border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" /> Cheers for any advice, Jon
  16. Yep but I'm looking to take a blank out, and put a switch in place. I have something that needs switching on and off and I want it to look OEM style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> . Off topic but whats with the subtle name change style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  17. Im looking for a switch to replace one of the blanks, that matches the existing switches. Im not sure if any other VW's use the same design of switch (maybe some passats??), and there wern't really any other options for the lupo I can think of that had suitable switches. Another rear window demister switch would look a bit odd too. Really I'd like a completely blank one style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" /> but I can't imagine why VW would make one of those. Does anyone know if you can get a switch, and what they have on the front of them? Cheers, Jon
  18. Yep I've noticed that too, is it just tilted right back? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />
  19. Your not the only one, it took me about half an hour to get one of mine off, just give it lots of WD-40 and keep hitting it with a mallet or whatever style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Also a good idea to put a bit of copper slip around the wheel hub, so the wheels come off easier next time.
  20. Wow that really does look amazing in the sunlight, thats got to be one of my favourite colours for the loop style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shades:" border="0" alt="shades.gif" />

    Charity...

Hmm, I'm not sure what I'd do to help a charity, I think I'd perfer to do some volunteer work for them, rather than do something wacky to raise money. I'd rather help them with my time, if that makes sense. I would probably do something to do with my local hospice, as they looked after my uncle well when he was ill.
  22. It was cold, and very windy, *and raining*, but the twisty fries were nice! Good to see everyone again. Definitely should have an evening meet in a multistorey next time. I like that poster as the background of the photos too style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shades:" border="0" alt="shades.gif" />
  23. Thats interesting then, so its the only Laser Blue GTi, very special. I look forward to seeing it sometime. Probably a bit short notice but the next one is tomorrow: North East Meet They seem to be quite regular though, keep an eye out in the events section style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> . Congratulations on being a new dad too!
  24. There are loads of Lupos about with black mirrors! Take a look on autotrader, all the early E's have black mirrors style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
