  1. Hi all, I just tore a 4 inch gash in my oil sump and need to find a new one pretty fast, any ideas on where to buy from? Its for a 03 plate arosa 1.4tdi. Anyone know roughly (ball park) how much it would cost to get one and have it fitted?
  2. Cheers mate. The autofactors I use only deal with garages, so i got my mate to phone and had not given him the chassis number or the reg plate, DOH! How does the water pump thing work then ? do I pay for the new one and then take my old one back in after its changed ? I`ve got someone going to the VW garage with the VIN no and the car reg and I`ll also phone the nearest Seat garage to get prices and information. I`m getting a full service (fuel filter, Air filter, Oil filer, coolant flush and brake fluid change) plus the cambelt and water pump done for £120 (I have to get my own parts, thus this thread)
  3. Perhaps thats why my MPG is always crap up here in Scotland Doing 60mph and keeping below 2300 revs (turbo cut in ?) I got 420 miles for 27 litres which is 70.72mpg. But i was bored to tears and overtaken by a couple of lorries on the motorway. Back driving in my normal fashion I got 320 miles to 25 litre which is 58.19mpg, which is quite good for mixed driving at speed most of the time. My car is getting serviced in the next couple of weeks too, so I will see then if that makes a differance.
  4. Anyone ? Does anyone know what part number the cambelt is for a 1.4tdi 2003 model arosa. The autofactors I usually buy from claim there are three different belts for three different engines for 2003 tdi's. Lastly, is it advised to buy VAG parts or is there much differance between after market parts for the likes of the cmabelt etc. If VAG parts are advised, do you just buy them from the local VW/Seat dealer is there an easier/cheaper way ?
  5. I do between 250 and 350 miles a week with my Arsoa 1.4tdi and spend about £23. I should also note the car gets driven as if it were stolen, most of the time The Tdi is great on motorways as its sits at 80 perfectly and has a good change of pace to keep up with any moving traffic. There is a silver arosa tdi up for sale around edinburgh with 88000 on the clock for £2300 (i think) its on autotrader, but other than that one, I`ve only ever seen one other for sale in Scotland in 2 years and i bought that one
  6. Does anyone have a list of parts I would need for a cambelt change as well as the tensioners (do I need to dampners etc) its on a 1.4 tdi arosa. Cheers, Verbs.

    Petrol Light

My fuel consuption just keeps getting worst style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> My wife filled up last week with £20 diesel. The car has done 230 miles and the light has been on for the last 60 miles. Its not sitting right down on the red yet, but it can`t be too far before its run dry (I live a mile from the garage) I reckon I`ll have to have a look at the fuel filter, air filter and an oil change as its using far too much for a TDi. I don`t drive economically, with my daily drive being 50 miles mostly on the motorway at 75mph, but 54mpg seems a little low.

Sorry mate, I`ll need to keep a better eye out style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> The Bagpuss on the back is always a give-away ! The passengers were my two sons (4 & 1) who are always giving me verbal style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

    MOT time...

I had an electrical problem sorted at Perth garage earlier in the year, they were quite good, although they did have to call in Lucas to determine the exact fault. I`ve had my last two MOT's done there, as ,y wife works for Scottish ad Southern, across the road. I used to use Raads garage behind homebase as well, but I`ve not used AA. I got totally ripped off at the AA service centre at Halfords once for an MOT, they claimed one of the reflective surfaces on my front light had perished enough, that it needed replacing and found a lot of other faults that only they found. Needless to say I got a 2nd opinion and put it to Lochty garage near Almondbank, as i know the owner Bob Crichton.

    MOT time...

Silver, you are better off going to the hand wash place down Glenearn road, next to the bathroom centre. They do a touchless wash as well and its miles better than the machines. £4.50 for standard wash, £6.50 with alloy polish and hot wax. Bellfied carwash at Inveralmond do a hand wash for £4 but they use brushes to clean your car, and your car can get pretty dusted up getting back out of there lot (and inveralmond). If you don`t mind me asking, what garage did you use for the MOT ?
  11. Road tax on 1.4 Arosa/Lupo Tdi is now down to £35 a year style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shades:" border="0" alt="shades.gif" /> Just had a look at the calculator and it says I`m £114 better off, so i can`t complain too much.
  12. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> As Shaggy once wrote/sang, It wasn`t me style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  13. Quite an important typo there style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  14. Its not happened overnight, more 10 years. She has had two kids in that time and put a lot of weight on due to birth control pills, which didn`t agree with her. She is trying to lose weight, but once its on it difficult to shift, especially when she has little free time outwith work and looking after the kids, to go to the gym/swimming/whatever. Its also not always about having respect for yourself. Being happy within yourself is something that cannot be underestimated. My dad has had weight problems all his life and I`ve watched him for years trying to shift the weight. He was unhappy being on a diet, so much so he has suffered from quite severe depression over the years. He is not concentrating on keeping his heart healthy enough to carry his frame and he is happier with himself for not being on a diet but still looking after the important parts of his body.
  15. My wifes a size 20 now (size 8-10 when I met her style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> ) and I don`t mind all too much, but I`m past the time of caring what she looks like as long as we are happy. For looks wize I think a 10-12 is about perfect. Size zero is worst than a size 20 for me, I`d be worried I`d break a size zero style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> Plus they just look ill and I`d imagine they would moan alot about being hungry. Someone who went to the bother of trying to be size zero also sounds a little high maintenance for me as well.
