Just bought my first car! Only passed my car test last week after 12 years stoating about on bikes. I'll probably blend into the background for a while until I start changing bits and bobs. Keep your eye out for a jesus lookalike with a proud look on his face cruising about Glasgow in a wee black 1 litre Lupo!

Can any Scottish/Glsgow based Lupo owners recommed a good garage, or even give me hints on what to look out for when I'm looking round for one? I know nothing about the internal gubbings and dont want to get ripped off. Reading up as much as possible but having no practical experience makes me nervous! Ta!

Inspiring stuff. Didn't even know you could do this kinda thing. I've always fancied a matt black car (probably look terrible right enough) Hope you don't mind me asking, but what would be the approximate price of doing something like this?

Never thought about doing this, but after a quick image search I rekon it looks much better. Do you recommend any certain type of floss, I've heard the spearmint ones are better I'll try and get some before and after photos.

Thanks for the info I might look into the indicator thing cos it looks ace. When you put "Tinted Headlights - swapps with standards + £15" does that mean you want £15 and they'll fit right in or that you want £15 and me to send my original ones to you? It's just that £15 seems like a great deal, but I want to keep all my standard bits just in case. Ta.

I'm interested in the tinted headlights, would they just be a straight swap for a standard Lupo 1.0 E headlights? Also, are they legal (I'm new to this) Another quickie, on the photo you dont have front indicators, where did you move them to and where did you get the new front "bit" to do it? Ta!

Thanks for all the help, the Bathurst and Lupo sport ones look great.. I just need to find some within my price range. I'll keep an eye out on the forums. Colour wise I think you've all made a good point, gun metal or anthracite will look far better. Mike, those 15" Momo ones looked the business! I might give painting a shot, buy some cheap ones so I don't cry too much when I wreck them!

This may be an old post but I had to comment, looking for some gear knob ideas but no matter what I get it will never beat the duck!

I'm new to cars, just got my first and made the stellar choice of getting a Lupo. I'm looking to make a few changes to it but I'm on a budget. It's 11 years old and has a few scratches so I have no misconceptions about getting it up to the gleaming standard that some of you guys and gals have, but I fancy firing on some new wheels. I'm currently rolling about on the standard 13" alloys and they're a little tatty round the edges. I kinda fancy some dark grey or black rims, how horrific would it look if I got some second hand standard alloys for cheap then sprayed them? Minging? Thoughts?

Update: I started mine up this morning, still has the light on but the engine sounds fine again. Drove a short journey to work and didn't have any problems. Going to get it checked at the weekend though just to be safe.

I think I just got this problem today. Only had the car for a few days and just passed my test this morning! Has anyone else had this problem, and any idea of cost to put it right or does it depend on what's actually gone wrong?

Evening All! I have just become the proud father of a beautiful little 2001 VW Lupo 1.0 E! I had a good trawl through the forums before taking the plunge, the post on common faults was a great help. Gave a clueless guy the ability to look like he knew what he was looking for! Couple of little bits and bobs to to do it, but all in all a tidy wee car. Following the how to to the clicking doors and might need to take a look at the back window skoosher but apart from that it's looking good. No doubt lots of questions to follow and I'll maybe get brave and start doing some fun stuff to it soon!
