  1. Your A level physics is correct in that it will cool the air which does improve performance. But the air and the manifold are very different you will not stop a hot inlet by slightly cooler air passing through it. The air goes through to quickly in too shorter space to have a cooling effect. and you should use venturi or second law of thermodynamics depending on how you are analyzing it chemically or physically. Boyles law doesnt work on a system with work done to it.
  2. 1.7bar of boost ? And you have an engine left ? High inlet temps will not be effected by an inter cooler because it is the turbo been heated by the exhaust gas and heat soak on turbos is ironically from running far too much boost
  3. What you want to do isnt possible due to how the car is built but good luck
  4. This depends on a lot: does the gearbox need changing, any faults on the dash, paint work and straight panels and most of all what if any mods are done and are they done well haha and by the way white lupus won't fetch more money on here haha we didn't catch that fad. But seriously you could be looking between 1 and 2 grand. However I'd check auto trader and see what similar ones to yours are fetching
  5. I had this when i first got mine get some engine flush and some synthetic oil and a oil filter. Semi or fully synthetic shouldn't congeal like the tesco value stuff they had been running mine on
  6. just remap? you'll see a noticeable difference and putting a bigger turbo does need engine interior upgrades for it to be reliable and id forget supercharging for a small diesel that would get alot more complicated than " german to german like "
  7. yea same part no i will have to see if i can liberate for the day on the weekend with a quick look i think it has 2 vacuum pipes i dont think the 1.4s does but i may be wrong ive slept since redoing the head
  8. It's just a 6n
  9. Ill check the engine code then
  10. After some trawling haven't found a great answer, Will a polo gti inlet manifold (ajv) fit a 1.4 (aua). Main reason I ask a friend has one for sale and I've gathered they help mid range a little so thought it was worth a go to kill the curiosity By the way the ajv is a 6n

    manifold 4-2-1

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l2736&_nkw=1.4+lupo+manifold find the one with your engine code and fill your boots
  12. lupoboz will sort you out with one
  13. I run springs and shocks they go as low as youd ever want your lupo (you cant fit your shoe in the arch gap) and the ride isnt unbareable as some coilies sets are and id think this is likely be the case if you get some ebay specials oh and spring clamps are worth spending a few extra pounds on i got a set for £25 which the end plug directy into a ratchet head because lets be honest if you are lowering this car you are going to lower another
  14. having a 1.4 myself chasing power is pointless unless you can afford throttle bodies and or a supercharger. Imo mine is much better from been on coillies and wider wheels because the car doesnt put its power down well on standard suspension and wheels and i got a back box just for a little bit of noise because im cool but it doesnt give any extra bhp like they all quote But if youre set out on a faster car strip the interior out will save you many pennies
  15. you replace a water pump when it squeaks and i dont know about anyone else but didnt know rubber belts came in good and bad varieties :/ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TIMING-BELT-VW-LUPO-1-4-1998-2005-/230707543976?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35b73dbfa8#ht_2426wt_905 for the belt http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-VW-TIMING-CAM-BELT-1-4-1-6-GOLF-MK4-5-BORA-POLO-CADDY-BEETLE-LUPO-/120881640437?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c251b73f5#ht_554wt_1163 if you wish to pay for a white stamp on your timing belt
  16. speedbump and a bit of oldness and theres no motorfactors and tried the local scrappers
  17. as you can gather got a hole in my sump on my 1.4s was wondering if anyone knew anywhere that sells a new ones i rang vag they want £110 for sump and gasket which seems a tad steep and cant find an ahw code sump on internet. So was wondering if the sump was used on multiple engine codes and anyone know where to get a new one thanks in advance
  18. you sure you need to replace mine passed m.o.t. on a knocked out cat but this was 6 months back and for a 1.4s it is a manifold cat i dont know the code though vw will tell you the code for you if you ring your local dealer
  19. check your water has it got emulsified oil in it ?? or is there low throttle response ??
  20. ye the timing belt was lined up with the wholes in the gears and indents in the case will it be kk to start like this and the aux belt is timed to the v on the side of the case aswell
  21. if you want 8k colour of hids search led h4 headlights
  22. my timing belt slipped last week and i've replaced my exhaust valves which were bent and skimmed the cylinder head and got the car back together with the belts on. however i dont want the timing to be out so i just kill 8 valves again :/. does anyone know what stroke cylinder 1 is on when timed with the markings on the casing and how does the engine know on start up so it doesnt destroy my hard work :/
  23. ccuk ftw i just cat c'd my euro c and got a lupo that looks epically similar haha ive only got -40s atm tho
