  1. Very nice! I do quite like these now... Why not debadge the UP! badge and put a lupo one there instead - as thats what it really is anyway - a mkII Lupo Liking the black lower rear bumper, would the rear match the front if the indented line around the rear plate was black too? - think it makes the car look a little wider.
  2. Pretty good tyres, they're basically new yokohama s-drives all round, unbelievably good in the dry but a little slippy in the wet, but they let go progressively not suddenly which makes life easier. When i chose them i did consider the road legal slicks as the cost wasnt too much more but i doubted that they would last that long, and with british weather i didnt fancy aquaplaning into a tree...
  3. Took my sport out for one morning session, first time on the track so my dad insisted that the instructor came out with me, but tbh he was more hindrance than help, mainly cos he made me reposition the steering wheel and my seat and then stole the rear view mirror from me so i felt blind! Had to go slowly on the straights to listen to what the guy was saying, The car went nicely tho, very very slippy tho - oversteer into corners and understeer out almost every time, ABS was coming in constantly. then i got black flagged as somebody told the marshals i was driving on a provisional wtf!?!? then they let me out again after i corrected them... Show and shone the R32 but forgot to get a blue hanger for the rear view mirror to say we entered so dont know if we missed out on a few votes - tho it was near impossible to clean the car in the rain. Going to be doing a full trackday by myself there as a graduation present in september, also doing a hillclimb near Plymouth in august. Hopefully next time im out at combe it will be dry so that I can give it hell and see what it can really do! - will probably have removed the front helper springs by september to stiffen up the front a bit to try and postpone the oversteer a bit and hopefully corner a bit quicker!
  4. Show and shine - There are trophies to be won, for first, second and third places. Entries can also be accepted on the day, up until 12 noon. Awards will be presented at 4 pm Our r32 is prepped as best as possible in the yard this morning, still needs loads of cleaning imo but weather didnt permit, will still enter tho, my track pass arrived for my lupo today, would be great if someone wanted to record a lap time for me to see how mine compares to trucido's track version!
  5. Nope, not enough interest, and ScottJohns had to pull out too. But if your tracking the car like me you can park in the main paddock area anyway. Come over and say hi when your there, will either be with my lupo, or cleaning the blue mk5 R32 at the show and shine.
  6. Just use a compound on it, then a fine polish and then wax it.
  7. Last call before I dont bother organising this.

  12. Was a good day out despite the rain, Didnt take my lupo up because of how much it costs in fuel and because its damaged awaiting repair atm, but I took the 32 up with no intention of entering, had a look round at the competition, thought there may be a chance... So it was entered in the modded mk4/5/6 section, I literally just wiped the mud off it and dried the rain off of it with a cloth (and it hadnt been cleaned since Truro a month before, so it arrived looking like a rally car) - and they gave it first place, was really pleased! Was good to see a few Lupos around, Scott Johns brought his all the way up from Plymouth! Pic of the 32, shame I didnt take any of my own, but a guy off R32oc took this for me:
  13. Been at Stonor Park today, hadnt cleaned the car since the Truro Show 15/04/2012, decided to enter upon arrival, entered with other modded mk4/5/6, wiped it with a cloth and won! Very pleased - but the weather was awful! Above pics by 2678andy from the r32oc Current 2 trophy's! - Bring on Castle Combe to try to make it 3 wins!
  14. Thanks! - I didnt take any pics as i didnt want to get my camera soaked! We ended up winning the class! - even though we hadnt cleaned the car since truro a month or so ago! we arrived, decided to enter, wiped it with a cloth and won! - after driving it all the way from Taunton as well! - i still thought it was filthy by my standards Incredibly pleased, 2 wins at two shows! Castle Combe next month, will organise the Lupo stand again and track my lupo for the day and show and shine the .:R to try and make it a hat-trick!
  15. Nice job! U going to laquer them after?
  16. Come down to plymouth one evening - the car park by central park is bout 100m by 100m of open tarmac - and past 7pm it becomes completely empty.
  17. Nope - definately not a barge I have never been in a car that grips better in corners, it does not understeer, most of the time it tends to leave black lines around corners from the rear outside tyre. Scott Johns on here has driven it in an empty car park where I set him the challenge of making the tyres slip on the tarmac without the use of the handbrake. However hard he drove it - and he did his very best - he could not do it - he even felt sick after trying! The tyres (Yoko S-Drives) make a huge difference as well. That combined with AP Coils and the RARB on medium setting, (tyres front and rear at 30psi). A standard Gti - I can 100% guaruntee - would not go round a corner quicker, even with its 10mm wider tyres - they are still set up by VW to understeer as it is considered safer than oversteer.
  18. Shame finding a sport - in yellow - was like a dream find for you. I think that looks pretty good, my mate is going to let me blutac his in place next week to have a look, but he wont sell it so if I like it I will have to source one from a scrappy or clubpolo. How did you go about fitting it?
  19. the rear beam isnt perfectly aligned on a lot of lupo's mine is about 1/4 of an inch to the right so I had to roll my rear right too.
  20. Cool, how is your car doing ayway? last i heard cambelt had gone and u had the side stoved in by some idiot? Cant find pics of yours with the splitter in your build thread? u able to link me some?
  21. Cool mate will have a look. I understand a car being low if it is slow and you have no desire to drive quickly anywhere and if you want to turn heads everywhere you go. But im not really an attention seeker and I intend to "let my hair down" every so often. Which u cant do safely 1.5" off the ground! But thats not my point, im sure it is stunning, but he could have it on coilovers about 40mm down from standard height with epic handling, and the car would look aggressive and racey, but without turning so many heads. I cannot really understand the vast expenditure on something that makes your car worse? and to me it doesnt look better on the floor, it just looks "silly" and "childish" for want of better words. http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg232/scaled.php?server=232&filename=7ur6rsut.jpg&res=landing The car looks soo much better raised and (it may as well be static as air is a waste of money) people will look back in a few years time and give the car the same connotations and disrespect as people now give this sort of thing: Performance orientated modification is the only car styling that never goes out of fashion, it just gets taken too far in differrent ways - overdone aerodynamic bodywork - now considered chavvy - soon it will be lowering suspension - starts as a performance mod - people overlowered - realised they overlowered stuff to an unusable height - inveted air suspension - its just all gone too far now - trying to get flashy wheels to fit - as wide as possible - results in massive camber ruining rear grip and a safety risk. I already look at SOME (not all) stupidly low vw's in the same way as chavvy saxos. Take a look at RWB porsches, they look immense and low, but they can all get over speedbumps, the arches are deceptive, and the car can perform amazingly on tracks - its the way for cars to be styled in my opinion - a little bodywork (like saxos but not overdone) - a little lowering (for perfomance and everyday use not like a "show" car) - then subtle personalised styling to make a vehicle individual. Thats my personal opinion - which everyone is entitled to, but it explains why my car is like it is. Rant over
  22. Mine's not that tidy - I wouldnt take it to shows or anything! Scottjohns is down here in plymouth too. Cool, seen the A's, my mate Scott here in Plymouth has been messaging him about them but he doesnt reply to any messages?!?!
  23. the one i'm looking at is quite slim: going to see first if my mate still has it as he got himself a 6n2 gti one recently. dont know if it can be made to fit, but may as well blutac it on and step back to have a little look. Thanks! I just look at photos from Ultimate dubs this year, and I just cannot understand the obsession with lowering suspension if its not to make it handle better? For example: Amazing and rare car ruined by tiny wheels and air-ride with the sole intention of making a "performance car" perform worse? This 32 could look absolutely stunning if it was just 40-50mm higher, but no - it just looks **** another "performace car" runied. I appreciate how fun low cars are, but I cant understand the desire to do this to a nice car that you buy for the engine... Where abouts do you live then? Myself and Scott Johns are down in Plymouth - popped onto the moors last night for quick pics and a drive.
  24. Thanks! - Im always trying to make it how the factory should have made it in the first place! Good to hear from you mate, will be back in Taunton in a few weeks. Ive had second thoughts about the lcr splitter, but trying to get hold of one from a polo 6n to test fit that... I think it needs something, but something curvy and not sharb like the lcr splitter.
