  1. There's no such thing as phantom smoke. If you saw it then something has burnt, but bit necessarily seriously. You might need to replace some wiring if it's gone. Assuming it's electrical then it'll be due to high resistance somewhere, a wiring junction perhaps. You'll need to try track it down, look for melted wires from the steering column etc. I would say hold off before judging it a lemon. Only a bit of duff wiring me thinks
  2. Did a lupo s have heated water jets ? :/
  3. Lose the halo and it will be mint!!
  4. sharpe, the compressor itself is fairly big, but the horns I believe are just 3 or 4 standard cone sized horns, so not a problem. It's the compressor that needs the space though. Probably the size of a 2 litre bottle plus I reckon.
  5. I must admit. Having looked at one on YouTube it looks miles better than an MFD.
  6. Like I said, it sounds like it's on the way out. Get yourself an eBay job in my opinion and DIY it. I'm hoping to have a tutorial up soon.
  7. OK, so the keys don't turn but the mechanism is separate from the key. Does it work on your central locking?
  8. Yeah close enough. There's a little cover that covers the screws. You undo them, and then basically lever it out with a screw driver wrapped in a thin cloth. There's a small plug that you unplug, then you need to be careful because the socket can fall back into the cavity and it's a right arse to get out (usually a straightened out coat hanger job) so perhaps hold it on the chassis with a piece of electrical tape while you grab the replacement 3rd brake light. Anyway, I'll make a tutorial tomorrow hopefully with photos. The reason why changing the bulbs in the 3rd brake light looks a bugger is that from what I can tell VW have made every effort to make it a sealed unit. It's not, as you can imagine and I reckon with a screwdriver and some effort it'll come apart but they've put a lot of clips on and I can't tell if it's sealed.
  9. Bloody he'll Koop I switched the third brake light the other week haha, luckily it's fairly easy. I'll write a tutorial. Changing the bulbs is quite hard in them though but I have a spare I'm going practice on
  10. Good lad Koop!! This is what we need
  11. That's a shame man. Hope that you get it sorted.
  12. Sounds like it could be loose. I'd be wary as it might rattle again and stop working. Might be worth checking it for the next couple of days make sure it's all good.
  13. What I wrote the other day : http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?/topic/95316-vag-com-specialists-in-the-midlands-exhaust-emissions-warning-lamp/?p=1105394
  14. Lol dblock, you obviously didn't read what I wrote the other day about these hahaha Go for the first one. I genuinely mean that. The first one is cheap, legal, and will do everything you need on a Lupo basically, using the old version of VCDS-Lite which is called that 409 thing. The second two are both illegal fakes and I'm surprised eBay continues to let them get away with selling them. Basically, they've cloned the eeprom of an original cable, hacked the accompanying software so that it will work with the fake cable. So yes... you will get a full version, but that isn't the end of it. In an attempt to stop this, Ross-Tech put in a piece of anti-piracy code which can wipe these cables if they are detected as fake. So if you upgrade the software, it'll wipe the cable guaranteed. Hell, if you go on other VW forums people have said they've gone on the Internet while using one with the hacked software provided, and it's wiped them. You're basically taking a massive risk with one of these. So, I wouldn't touch them unless you can get them for as cheap as the legal 409 ones. You're paying £50+ for something that could be wiped any day.
  15. Sounds like a right pain the arse to fit though lol!!
  16. Wow, I never knew the subject was this intense haha I just want to change a bloody bulb haha!!!
  17. Why are they illegal? You can have them OEM on most modern cars? :S
  18. What are HID's? Is that the conversion kit to make your normal light into a true Xenon? Or are they the bulbs that simply use twice as much power so put out twice the brightness?
  19. When you say your boot is playing up, does it work on the key in the drivers door? If it does, you'll be okay, but if it doesn't, then this kit won't fix it. All this kit does is simply add a radio to your drivers door lock in truth. It essentially mimics the action of locking using a key. The fact it does it so well is of credit to the manufacturers. Not just RightClick though, there are various different companies who make these. Fitting it is easy enough yes. Basic electrical knowledge, and understanding of removing trim and you'll be fine. I am intending on writing a tutorial for this in the next day or so. I fitted mine on Saturday. Very satisfied so far. Range is excellent, keyfobs are excellent and if it lasts then it's definitely a mod worth doing.
  20. Haha. I should have read my response before I pressed Post... derrrrp haha Any tips for changing a headlight bulb Pete ? You've always come across as fairly industrious with regards to your Lupo! Although I know yours is a GTI
  21. Jade, if you could, that would be great. I will have a whack at it hopefully this weekend. I've not even bought the bulbs I want to fit yet, but it's a case of being able to do it in the first place.
  22. EBay. I think that they are inter changeable. Just some are better than others.
  23. I'll have a pop this weekend
  24. No idea about an Arosa. Looks quite tough on a Lupo though.
  25. It looks like a right bitch to me, but I haven't had a go yet. Not really the right weather now that it's pissing it down every day lol. When it's sunny again, I'll have a go!! We just need people to write a 5 minute tutorial on the work they have done. How many people come on here to say "hey I've done this..." but then not explain how to do it? It's ridiculous.
