  1. Why don't you add a relay? Use (as in patch in) the head units switched live then use the constant from the cigarette socket? http://www.amazon.com/Absolute-RLS125-12-VCD-Automotive-Relay/dp/B0002KR9GG Surely that would suffice? You might want a base too as it just makes wiring in a little easier, although I know loads of people who have soldered directly onto the legs and then wrapped them using a tight heat shrink to minimize vibration wear. That's what I'd do personally. Wouldn't take long to wire in... what I will say is buy a decent charger. Spend £15 and buy a really high quality make. Don't use one of those Poundland jobs. Better still, if your head unit has a USB socket on the back (mine does) use a dumb USB cable. That would be the lazy way of doing it
  2. No I think a 409 adapter can save
  3. Depends which one. they aren't bad though mate.

Isn't this a guaranteed MOT fail though?

  6. It takes a bit more than a few miles to properly seize an engine, unless the thing is bone dry. Most modern cars can run with well under the dipsticks lowest measure. I still wouldn't recommend it though. You might want to get the codes checked out, asap!
  7. I have to say well done. I'm not going to rush out and buy one don't get me wrong, but I'm impressed with the look of that in the dash.
  8. Hmmmm, maybe, I really couldn't tell you for definite, but I'll give you a guestimate. The thing is from a software perspective, you're kind of tricking it, so you may find the microphone is quieter when the line-in cable is attached. Let me explain: When you put your phone on loudspeaker mode in a call, the software usually increases the microphone sensitivity by upto +20db. That number varies from model to model, based on hardware, how it's been coded, and if you owned an Android whether you'd hacked those variables to perhaps achieve what you're trying to achieve now. The problem you have is this, you're plugging it into a line-in, so in effect, your iPhone will see that as a pair of headphones. From past experience of mobile development, there isn't usually an increase in microphone volume for that. Now let me throw a spanner into the works just for fun... in the past year or so (perhaps longer), many phone models have come with special software to ramp the microphone sensitivity based on the volume in which you talk rather than having specific settings. This can ramp up, or down based on the loudness in which you talk. If the iPhone has this function, I imagine you'll be fine. My N4 does have this function and it works remarkably well. I'm afraid the best way to find out is to cut it and give it a try. Let me give you some advice. Mount the iPhone on a vent clipped support just above your head unit. This will be at the approximate height of your mouth so whatever you say will have a direct path into the microphone. If you mount it lower down nearer the heater controls like in some of the tutorials on here and the Internet, you will find the sound is muffled as there is extraneous noise flying around nearer the footwells of the car. In my honest opinion, if you do it like I advise, you'll be absolutely fine
  9. Spotted a blue 1.0E and a black 1.0S (?) or 1.4S (?) on subway car park in Stone. I was the guy in the work shirt and jeans lol. I should have driven lol, there would have been three Lupo's on the car park lol, which only has about 4 spaces haha!! I got my old man drive because I was being lazy grrrr... Anyway, didn't see a Club Lupo sticker on either but good to see they are popping up around Stone now!
  10. All show, no go. Not seen any evidence to suggest a performance increase. Just a noise increase.
  11. Just unnecessary. No performance gains whatsoever.
  12. Also what tintin says, a quick scan can reveal many issues. If not, I recommend cleaning the EGR valve. It probably wasn't necessary to replace the throttle body. The only other thing is perhaps the inlet manifold is clogged. It's a pain to clean. You can remove it and clean it using some carb cleaner I think.
  13. I had the hunting issue on my Lupo 1.0E. A proper clean of the throttle body and EGR valve fixed it spot on. There's a tutorial about cleaning the EGR valve in the How To
  14. Couldn't you just fit something like this : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLKSWAGEN-GOLF-MK2-HEATED-WASHER-JET-/151031206903?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item232a2953f7
  15. It could probably be neatened up with a little bit of filing.
  16. Sounds like you might just need a blast of Silicone Grease on the mech and motor
  17. Hoping to do a few of the tutorials this weekend. If the rain holds off I should be okay
  18. Looks surprisingly good actually. Still don't like the idea of a DVD based sat nav though.
  19. I have written the text guide but I've not been able to take the photos yet due to the horrendous weather. I do have some that I took while fitting, however I wanted to take one of where I placed the box and the way I routed the wires. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it clears up, if not, I'll post the How To without the final pictures then add them later.
  20. Well done mate. Incompetent beyond belief
  21. An original coin tray + cup holder is pretty good but they go for quite a lot on eBay (£30 usually) plus there aren't that many around. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-MR2-Celica-Double-Din-Pocket-Cup-Holder-Starlet-/230592901070?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35b0686fce - cheap alternative
