  1. It's blue. Yes 100bhp centre exhaust lupo sport. Off on hols tomorrow for a couple of weeks. Will let you know if we do decide to let it go. Car is not perfect but I can fill you in on everything if we were to sell. In Birmingham but sure we could meet somewhere if necessary.
  2. Have one which I may be parting with soon. Y reg on 94k. Had it 2 years - serviced twice and had belts done and minor other things e.g. wiper and indicator stalks, leccy window switches, new tyres. On coilies (not sure which ones). If I do sell then would only want £700. Shall I keep you updated?
  3. Did you get sorted?
  4. No worries mate. Egr now properly adapted and light hasn't come back on.
  5. Ok so replaced egr and bloody egr fault code reappears - next step?
  6. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-EGR-Valve-Exhaust-gas-recirculation-1yr-warranty-next-day-delivery/261034289572?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D23775%26meid%3D7843079391281537960%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D10165%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D181382921038&rt=nc
  7. Just bought a lupo sport and have the usual EGR fault code with EML. Garage recommend new EGR. VW quote ............. wait for it ............. £161 plus the vat! Cheapest e-bay jobbie I can find is £30. So clean EGR or e-bay jobbie? Anyone fitted a cheap one and found it ok?
  8. Yep great tyre. Coincidentally I have a set of mint Oz UItraleggeras in the classifieds shod with a hardly worn set of these. See what I did there
  9. I have a set of 4 dunlops in that fitment with loads of tread that you can have dirt cheap. PM me if you're interested.
  10. you need a diesel and beas above needs to shift a VRS - both problems solved?
  11. Actually perhaps more people might be interested in this than you think, so perhaps reserve judgement in future and just close the thread. Not only driving, but also posting "like an ......."? Mine's on 51k darkhorse, of which there must be quite a few gtis with equivalent mileage. <30k must be pretty rare for the age of car.
  12. p.s. if you get a good un (well maintained and serviced) running costs will be comparable between the two. I've had the gti a couple of years and nothing has gone wrong with it at all (touch wood). I have changed the suspension through preference but otherwise just general servicing costs. Both cars have cambelts so no difference in major service costs either.
  13. I own both a gti and vrs. Chalk and cheese TBH. VRS great for longer journeys (more comfortable, more economical, cruise etc.) and i wouldn't want to do the mileage i do in the VRS in the gti. The gti (with decent suspension mods) is much more agile and much more fun to drive round town and for shorter journeys. Though it's slower than the vrs (forget the BHP figures because it's all about torque) the throttle response makes it feel perkier off the mark and keeps it feeling quickish. The VRS is a lazier, more relaxed drive though due to where the torque is in the rev range. I've had far more powerful hatches (mapped S3 and 130i) and personally don't feel i want more grunt from either, as outright straight line speed becomes boring quickly. All depends what you want the car for i suppose. That's why we have both.
  14. i know how you feel - respect the gti
  15. not a thing - never leave anything in the gti - and the glovebox is empty too
  16. the priest is coming in the morning to bless the door handles. in the meantime we're entering through the sunroof
  17. Just pulled up in our second car at home with the missus after doing some shopping (i know living it large on a friday night) to find two of our nation's finest taking a fancy to the gti. One on the lookout and another trying the doors. Must have caught them just getting at it. Worst thing is the lookout stared me out like i was in the wrong before casually sauntering off with his mate in tow. Should have ran over the feckers toes and seen how hard he was then with flat feet. Garage cleared out in 5 minutes and Gti now sitting snugly in it. No damage i can see thank god. My missus is just horified that the scrote has his hand on our beloved lupe.
  18. nice backdrop but as above - letdown
  19. crazy scenes and no excuse for anyone involved in any of this - totally tragic. but the knee jerk 'scum' and 'mob' reactions, many of which are being propagated by the media coverage, don't address the question of why these people feel it's ok to act in this way in the first place. this is the big question we've got to answer. why does our society produce people and situations where this is the outcome? usually the obstetrician or midwife tells the mother - "its's a boy" or "it's a girl" not "it's a scum sucking rioter" complex issues but many of them are societal in nature. my big worry is how we persistently insist on following the US's lead where everything's concerned until we get to the point where the social divides are so huge that we have the virtually no-go murder, drug and crime ridden areas they have, chiefly as a result of massive social divisions. i'm not excusing any of the rioters or the behaviour, but if we want to stop further degeneration in the future we have to step back and realise how these things come about don't we?
  20. scary photos but thanks for sharing. the one of the guy in the mask is particularly striking.
  21. Would need to put about 3-4k to it in order to afford a decenr R27 -food for thought!
  22. Can i ask why the change to the Lupo then, as i'd be going the opposite way? What was the 200 Cup like to live with (not extras but ride etc.)?
  23. I'm just mulling at the moment. This is our second car (we have a diesel vrs for motorway slogs) and i need to get my fun fix somewhere. At the moment the gti is that. Have always wanted a renaultsport but would need to sell the gti to fund it. The reason i'm thinking of the clio rather than megane is that we use the car a lot around town and so wanted something smaller for that as well, rather than an outright powerful hot hatch. Big problem in this is that i love the gti, and my other half loves it even more. I'd have to make a very good case for getting rid. The last car i sold that she also loved (8L S3) i was told not to tell her when it was going. It was only the morning after when she asked where i'd parked it that the penny dropped. I still haven't been forgiven for that and it was rubbed in a little more when our car overtook us on the motorway a few weeks later! Is the clio good enough to risk all that?
  24. I know - major differences seem to be uprated (stiffer) cup suspension, quicker steering rack, slightly more low end torque, and better gearchange. BUT a lot of owners seem to be selling up the cup cars and lots of reports of these being very harsh. A good F1 197 can be had for 8-8.5kish. A good 200 is looking at 11.5-12.5k. I suppose in a year's time the 200s will be where the 197s are now. I know the only way to tell is test drive. But if i like, as i suspect i will, that will lead to bad things financially!
