Mattz341
Hi guys,So I've got the G60 brake upgrade, just going to change pads and discs as it's needed. I was planning on getting the EBC turbo grooved discs and running them with green stuff pads (for the gti so the 15.6mm). Anyone else running this? What do you guys think of them? Thanks in advance!Matt
Dblock
If you don't need grooved discs I'd skip them. They are noisier and will wear you pad faster. Unless your tracking it? Then if you are I'd go for something better than ebc. I got Cupra calipers so can get red and yellow stuff. Reds are ok and yellows are great. Never through green stuff was any good tbh. Silver!
I've gone for Brembo G60 discs up front and matching rears (but GTI standard) and TAROX Strada pads all round with HEL s\s braided hoses. Not fitted yet though.
Gouldy
Vented discs need to be hot enough to have the ideal braking force. I dont see the point in them unless they are on performance cars.....

I will be tracking it over the Summer, got some days at brands and possibly thruxton lined up! Why do you need the cupra callipers to run red and yellow stuff? Also I've heard that red and yellow don't really work well until warm and considering I'll be using this set up for everyday driving I was unsure of how much of an effect it would have on braking performance/wear!Thanks for the comments guys! Dblock
Anything really lol. It's a tough one because ebc discs are cheap but if tracking them they will wear out and warp. Greens just suck. They aren't very strong nor do they have good feel. That's a myth tbh. Ran red and yellows just fine. Yellows do take heat to make them work properly but braking from cold is the same as oem. Once warmed though they are impressive. Reds are ok too but yellows are the best. Yellows will be harsher on the disc but get a good disc and your braking performance will be amazing. I'm not sure about gti calipers but with the tdi ones choice of pad was limited. Since the cupra is higher powered better pads are made for it like red and yellows. I think you can get ds2500 too. Definitely will pass on those as I'm not going to be going mental lol! Found some yellow stuff pads for the gti! So will probably get those..http://www.dcperformance.co.uk/cheap/963966/volkswagen-/ebc-yellow-stuff-front-brake-pads/dp41112r.htmlAs for discs I'm thinking of these;http://www.apbrakediscs.co.uk/front-brembo-max-brake-discs-vw-corrado-1800cci-g60.htmlGoing to measure up against my discs to make sure they will fit - or if anyone can clarify they will that would be great! Thanks! Silver!
You will need to source G60 caliper carriers for the G60 disc conversion. And it's normally the Golf G60 discs...http://www.nextdaybrakes.com/brembo-front-vented-max-brake-disc-fits-volkswagen-golf-mk-ii-19e-1g1-18-gti-g60-pn-09672875-pair_p22352969.htm?gclid=CMf1rMnqy74CFUTlwgodymgAPQhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK2-1-8-GTI-G60-Hatch-Brembo-Max-Front-Brake-Discs-Genuine-OEM-New-/291054782577?_trksid=p2054897.l5661http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xgolf+g60+carriers&_nkw=golf+g60+carriers&_sacat=0&_from=R40
Kam Racing
We do the g60 brembo's at a very good price:http://www.kamracing.co.uk/car-tuning/volkswagen/vw-lupo/brakes/brake-discs/vw-corrado-g60-disc-upgrade-280x22mm-brembo-front-brake-discs.htmlwould avoid EBC personally as had some bad experiences with pads disintegratingin terms of pads if you don't want to go as far as ferodo ds2500 then a good solid choice is the mintex m1144 compoundhttp://www.kamracing.co.uk/car-tuning/volkswagen/vw-lupo/brakes/brake-pads/vw-lupo-1-6-16v-1-4-tdi-1-4-16v-100hp-mintex-m1144-front-brake-pads.html Edited May 27, 2014 by Kam Racing

But I think ebc messed up quite badly in the past with pads falling off the backing plate, disentegrating and poor performance. Discs used to warp, crack, wear quickly etc. I like yellows. The have a nice feel. Ds2500's are in the same catogry as yellows but are better but they seem to lack feel. M1144's are great pads. Carbon Lorraine if you want sparks though lol. So I need something decent for the road, not just race use. What are the M1144's like for just road use? as their price tag is steep!Few friends of mine have been saying good things about the yellow stuff pads, also saying they don't have any issues with cold brakes etc so I'm leaning towards getting yellow stuff pads with the Brembo's Kam posted above. Thanks for the comments guys!
Dblock
I've also used ds2500 on a daily so they aren't that bad.
