davej
Hi have replaced the gearbox selector seal on my 1.7 sdi but the gearbox still seems to be leaking from somewhere not been able to narrow it down yet. Daft questiion but does anyone know what other seals i may be able to replace without taking the gear box out which can leak ??? thanks dave Edited June 6, 2013 by davej
Al3xTee
I presume by gear selector seal you mean the one at the back which has the linkages going in? If its that one, did you drive around and then notice oil again? Where abouts is the oil and how much?
davej
Hi thanks for the reply. Sorry if i'm not very technical here. The seal we replaced is the one where the gear selector stick goes into the box. There's about a table spoon of fluid under the car after parking overnight. I was wondering if there were any other seals we good try replacing. Anyway my brother who used to be a mechanic is going to hava a look today. thanks dave
davej
Hi my brother has just reported back its leaking out of the gear selector seal still will put another gasket on and checked there's no burrs on the rod. Al3xTee
That sounds very similar to my issue. There is only that seal at the back, my issue is that it keeps coming loose which would indicate something is pushing it out when I change gear. I'm yet to see a gearbox specialist but I've had 2 new seals and they've been pushed back in. If you manage to find out and fix it let me know!
