Skezza
Have you not bought one off eBay? They're only a few quid and while they aren't brilliant they'll read codes off I promise.By the way, your mileage is ridiculously low!!
audiocandy
Im after a accurate reading so I can pin point the fault so im not just buying parts to solve the issue and not just get a code reading that dosent just tell me same any more then the dash warning light does . Which VAG-COM reader are you reffering to on ebay?
Skezza
Im after a accurate reading so I can pin point the fault so im not just buying parts to solve the issue and not just get a code reading that dosent just tell me same any more then the dash warning light does . Which VAG-COM reader are you reffering to on ebay?Any of them really, even an OBD scanner will show up a fault for something like that, I promise. I use a cheap OBD scanner all the time and it's great for just ordinary fault finding. I use a cheap VAG-COM cable to change adaptation's etc.Something like this :http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAG-COM-USB-ODB2-DIAGNOSTIC-CABLE-409-1-OBD2-II-LEAD-/290849709876?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item43b7fe5f34Will find you codes, plus allow you to access Meas. blocks and adaptations etc using the copy of VCDS-Lite they give you (I use one all the time),or even:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/V1-5-Mini-Bluetooth-ELM327-OBD2-OBDII-OBD-II-Protocols-Auto-Diagnostic-Scanner-/290901195431?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item43bb0ffaa7Is fine for just code reading. Again, I use one with the Android app Torque and it's helped me out a few times when I've been on the road.(the above two are legal)The only type of cheap VAG cable copy I don't recommend are these:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vag-Com-Vcds-11-11-1990-2013-Hex-Can-Usb-Latest-FULL-2013-/271202831540?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item3f24f2ccb4They're horribly overpriced and are using a hacked version of the software and are illegal. Ross-Tech clocked onto this (as you would) and put a verification tool into their recent software, so if you forget to turn your Internet off, the software (Even the hacked versions) can physically wipe the cable's eeprom. There's a big thing about it on various VW forums. Edited May 8, 2013 by Skezza
RobG
I miss my lupo's engine check lamp. It was like an old friend. I used to get worried if it wasn't on...
