James827
Okay, this is the SECOND time this has happened. basically, the Oil filter starts to leak oil from The seal. I service the Car myself, I put the filter on Plenty tight and smeared a Healthy amount of oil on the seal Before fitting. first time was 10k After Fitting (Service time anyway) This filter has lasted 6K.they are BOTH Fram filters. the only difference between them was the colour (I assume the one on now was improved in some way because of the Colour.)I made sure the Surface on where the seal mounts was all clean before fitting this filter as I assumed that was the problem last time.this is no Major oil spill, its just an inconvenience, and runs the risk of me running Low on Oil. Might try tightening it up again, and then if it persists put on a GENUINE filter. Has Anyone had any Similar Experiences of this? and what did you do?Cheers, James
Defcon5
Over tightening maybe?Try a genuine filter and go from there
James827
just bought a Bosch one and some oil to top up. will fit tomorrow or day afterover-tightening it could cause it to leak but why not sooner? (I.E just down the road instead of 6k later?)
JoeA
Because being too tight can cause the seal to fail over time?
