SharkAttak
Evening! Not sure if anyone can help, when decelerating / accelerating and hitting around 2500 revs in first 2nd or 3rd, I have a strange vibrating sound. I have had a few people look at this including a Mechanic and a we cant seem to figure it out. I can also sometimes recreate it if I come out of gear and coasting on an uneasy road which took my worry away from it being transmission as I first thought. I have checked the Exhaust and this seems to be well fixed, gear box was replaced about 2 years ago but the old owner (My Ex) thinks this happened even before then and she seemed pretty used to it.The only way I can describe it is if you can imagine a thin solid metal rod vibrating quickly and hitting something solid.Air bag light is also constantly on so I can imagine diagnosing and fixing that will cost me a fair few bob. I love the car so much but haven't had a chance to do anything since buying it from my Ex. I have many plans but am thinking maybe I should take others advice and buy a faster model and tinker with that instead. I like this one so much though I am not sure I would enjoy another Lupo I much as I do Loopy.I have read a lot of posts on here now, and slowly building up some car knowledge, bit of a late bloomer but getting addicted and dreaming about it isnt getting me anywhere so I need to actually start making the changes. Is there actually any point with me doing any engine mods on the 1.4 16v (75ps)Thanks
Lupo-dreams
Might be worth a shot : If there's a rattle around the handbrake, it could be the metal button vibrating on the handle. A little piece of sticky-backed felt placed under the button on the inside of the handle cures it. Had this in a Bora once, was convinced it was behind the radio area and was really annoying, but it turned out to be the handbrake button. SharkAttak
Thanks, I have been trying to figure this out for a while now.The noise goes once the car has warmed up, I am thinking it is the exhaust vibrating under the car and when this is heating its expanding which in turn stops the vibration.Strange thing is I can get it to happen now when idling and after a couple of revs of the engine, if I put my foot against the rest next to the clutch, and push back on my chair, I can stop the noise!!Should I be worried I can make that much of a difference with a little strain on the seat mounts, or is this just an indication I ate to many Mince Pies. Koop
Check the heatshield & scan the area for porno tache's.I've got a rattle which a mate who's a race mechanic said will be the heatshield. And the solution? "Rip it off, doesn't do anything" haha so I'll be having a look at this as soon as I get chance to have a good look under the car
