puggled
Ok so we all knew aftermarket HIDs without levellers and washers would be a fail (yay in my opinion, sick of getting dazzled by corsas with crazy pink and purple HIDs). But:http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/repository/technicalpenpicture3-lighting.pdfone of the new rules is that "product on the lens or light source" is a reason for rejection.I had been considering getting lamin-x but don't want to waste my cash. This applies to front/rear position lamps, rear fogs, brake, reverse and indicators.Any thoughts?
one litre wonder ;)
i stay in the country side and people with HID's should be shot, the number of times i have been almost blinded to the point of crashing due to HID's is unreal! puggled
This'll come into effect Jan 2012, they'll be advisories up until April to give time to adjust then they'll become "reasons to reject" i.e. fail. Also piggy back ECUs and non standard ECU mappings would be reasons to reject, though VOSA admit there is no realistic way to check, it is to bring us inline with EU regulations. nfbr
Also piggy back ECUs and non standard ECU mappings would be reasons to rejectwrong... It's illegal chip tuning which VOSA are outlawing. Things like electric superchargers, Variable resistors, cheap plug in tuning boxes and any evidence of ECU tampering.as someone who works for a vehicle mapping specialist. I've had this conversation a few times with VOSA just to clarify what the change is actually going to entail.
puggled
nfbr thanks for the correction, the wording is so vague and anything that is open to interpretation is always a gamble as MOT time.Thinking of some testers that will pass on sunstrips some that will fail, some will pass on led w5ws and some will fail, etc, etc
