GTi Si
I open the bonnet, close it and walk off.Come back in 5 mins to open it, but it won't open. The handle moves but nothing happens.Strip the drivers footwell down and see the cable is mounted correctly and moving, but the bonnet doesn't open.I am guessing the cable has broken inside the engine bay.Any ideas how VW will solve this? Booked it in on Wednesday style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />And then found the layer of matting under the carpet soaked on the passenger side style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> The carpet was fine but the matting was soaked. Couldn't find the cause though style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />S

benspain_uk
To open mine, you have to gently ease it up and wait for the click. If I just pull on the handle, it comes off!
Nicki
Mine did that - apparently the cable comes in 2 parts, so it may not have snapped - it could've just come apart. Not sure how they got in though... was all done under warranty
danny842003
if you get some one to pull the handle and someone just get there fingers under the bonnet and pull they often pop open. then the catch will just need adjustment. Frankie
I had somebody pull out into me and bent my bonnet catch. The only way i could get it open was to -remove VW badge-undo 2 bolts that hold catch in place-plate drops off back-this will let bonnet open about 10 inches-get hand in and unhook cable-bonnet opens all the way.i then straightened the catch and job was done, put it all back together. This was the only way i could get it open.If u do this u will be able to get in and follow the cable back to inside of the car and find the problem.Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
GTi Si
Had an odd one today, put the car into reverse and accelerated, but the engine stalled. Then it happend again! In the end I revved it loads and tried again - worked this time.Anyone else have this?S
Crusoe
probably back brakes seized a bit, wind the window down and see if you hear them rubbing when you reverse, had you left the car undriven for a few days?
tdwindustries
more likely a clutch issue, they aint renowned for smoothness in reverse.
GTi Si
I get the creaking anyway from cold! This was after driving for 1.5hrs down the motorway. Just seemed to loose revs.Seems OK now, I will monitor it (as usual!) style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />S
