I open the bonnet, close it and walk off.

Come back in 5 mins to open it, but it won't open. The handle moves but nothing happens.

Strip the drivers footwell down and see the cable is mounted correctly and moving, but the bonnet doesn't open.

I am guessing the cable has broken inside the engine bay.

Any ideas how VW will solve this? Booked it in on Wednesday sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

And then found the layer of matting under the carpet soaked on the passenger side sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> The carpet was fine but the matting was soaked. Couldn't find the cause though sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

I had somebody pull out into me and bent my bonnet catch. The only way i could get it open was to

-remove VW badge

-undo 2 bolts that hold catch in place

-plate drops off back

-this will let bonnet open about 10 inches

-get hand in and unhook cable

-bonnet opens all the way.

i then straightened the catch and job was done, put it all back together.

This was the only way i could get it open.

If u do this u will be able to get in and follow the cable back to inside of the car and find the problem.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
