alpine resets on ignition*sorted*

Is there any way of wiring it so it doesn't reset went i take the key out the ignition, its the 9833R and iv already connected the red/yellow wires together to inable it to work!

Id rather not have to run it from the battery yet

You shouldn't connect the red and yellow wires together - god knows what that'll do...

You want to swap the red and yellow wires going to the alpine - so the red input on the alpine is connected to the yellow car wire, and vice versa.

You might also want to check you haven't blown any fuses by connecting the two together.

good good , think of it this way atleast u found out about the resetting problem before u sat for ages setting the thing up , btw did u get that cup holder thing ??

Fitted an 9833R to my Gti a week ago.

Connect the red - yellow and the yellow - red and all is fine.

Mine originally lost its memory and after the above modification its fine. Also the red from the VW loom is bigger and matches the size of the Alpine yellow cable so no overload problems on the cable and no need to run a lead from the battery for the +ve feed.

edit: i didnt read the whole thread until after i posted! Notice the original problem has already been solved but my post can be a seconding of the answer...
