Mike_M
You could have a faulty micro switch which is not an unusal thing.

Mike_M
VW door catches have small micro switchs built into them which replace the usual large clunky ones you get in older cars. They tell you if the door is open or not.If you get a faulty one, it is a case of replacing the whole lock mech as the micro switch is very difficult to replace due to it being a sealed unit

Mike_M
No Lupo has a boot light. I retro fitted mine using Mk4 Golf parts. If you have an original VW alarm fitted, it wont arm your car securely either, due to not knowing if the door is open or not.thanks mike will get my mechanic to take a look, you do seem to get niggly electrcal faults on lupos for some reason.Touch wood.........my GTI has been perfect and never skipped a beat in almost 5 years of owning her.apart from the usual wear and tear items

Mike_M
You will get a boot open warning light on the dash, but you wont have a light that illuminates when the boot is open.so you can see better
